How many of you are alone this holiday weekend?

I lost my beloved daughter, my only child, two years ago at age 23. It was just “her and me”, had to be that way. I gave up pretty much everything. “Friends” deserted me after her death. I am definitely ALONE and expect that won’t change. Luckily, I was an only child, but this is not an easy road.
As I type this I’m thinking that I shouldn’t ask but fools rush in…

Why oh why did your friends desert you after her death? I’m stunned.

I’m alone this weekend, too. I’m undergoing a five week electronics course in California and my wife and children are in New Jersey. I honestly think I am the only person in the barracks this weekend. I’m just thankful that there is a chapel with a contract priest that does Mass on Sundays.

He is a priest that is contracted by the military to do religious services such as Mass, etc… for his members. Am I right Southy??

And Southy>I thank you for serving your country. It is an honour. I hope you have fun in your electronics course. I am a bit of a tech geek but not that good. lol.

I thought I would make myself feel better if I can find out how many of you are alone this holiday weekend?? It is Memorial Day holiday in the US. What do you do with your time? Have you ever felt like doing anything or nothing at all?? lol. Maybe this new thread can keep our minds occupied! 😃
I am alone on Memorial Day. I just moved to a new city because of new work.

I miss Pittsburgh. :(:crying:

Me too I’m an introvert but strangely I love people in one’sand twos.

Have you read that recent book? Its great for us! I think it’s called ‘quiet’.

I have a real need for a lot of peace and quiet.
I am also an introvert, an INTJ to be exact which I heard is quite rare for a woman. However I love, love meeting new people.

Welcome to the club and might I ask what does INTJ means?? I can be both an introvert and extrovert as well. It depends on the situation.

:hug3:

Losing a child is the most painful thing that anyone has to go to. My condolences.

I agree being alone is not an easy road. I should know, I am alone.

And INTJ means Introverted Intuitive Thinking Judging which is one of the Meyers-Briggs personality type indicator. You can either Google Meyers-Briggs personality test and you can test yourself to see what type you are.

Really?? That would be very interesting to see what type I am. I will take the test later on and shall let you know. But I hope you don’t judge me. 😉

I am an INFJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging). According to Myers-Briggs, Judging means wanting things in order and settled, not judging others.

I just enjoyed some nice sleep with my cat. He was a stray and is a year old now. He can be naughty and rambunctious, but calm and sweet when he wants to be.

I go back to work tomorrow so I’m trying to make the most of the day. Today we are grilling at my sister’s house. I am looking forward to seeing my niece and nephew whom I don’t see too often. Enjoy the day!

I know that is why the wink. I love cats! I miss him. I had to get rid of him so I can move.

I hope you enjoy your day with your family!

Well, I just took that Meyers-Briggs test, and I am ESFJ. An extravert, sensing, feeling, and judging person! With more feelings than the other types. So, now I will find out what careers will fit my type. That shall be interesting.

I just found out that my personality type does not fit the web & graphic design career I had chosen for myself. I took the career assessment and found out I am more fitted for management careers like hotel & restaurant management. That explains why I am so fascinated with Chef Gordon Ramsay’s shows! I love restaurants! Hmm… I love challenges like that.

Now why would I judge you? As my spiritual advisor said, judge ideas not people.

I judge ideas, beliefs etc. People, I should love. Christ Himself commanded it. 😃

You can custom tailor a career that fits the unique you. Maybe a career that involves both graphic design and restaurant management. When my mother lived in Hawaii she was involved in the public relations field for a hotel in Hawaii. Her background in graphic design helped her tremendously with promoting and marketing the hotel.

What exactly was her degree in to obtain a public relations career?? I can certainly promote and market a hotel and/or restaurant. Running a hotel might be less stressful and cooler than running a hot restaurant. I certainly wouldn’t be good running the kitchen since it is too hot and I would run into people and drop things.

Her degree is in Economics. She studied graphic design on her own and her hotel management and marketing skills were from on the job training.

Either way, you have to cope with demanding clients when running a hotel or a restaurant. A lot of hotels do pay well and have great benefits, especially the five star ones in places like Las Vegas or Hawaii.

Oh yes! The clients. I know. I have experience in dealing with angry, demanding customers working as a cashier. 😃

Than you are already learning a valuable skill. Client negotiation. 👍
You can also be a hotel concierge. You need lots of people skills for this. However as an ESFJ I think you might be a natural, unlike me.

INTJs like me are the ones they cart out when there is little to no risk of danger to the public.

Yes we are the ones who are often caricatured as those with zero to little social skills.

😃
