Than you are already learning a valuable skill. Client negotiation. šŸ‘
You can also be a hotel concierge. You need lots of people skills for this. However as an ESFJ I think you might be a natural, unlike me.
Oh yes, I have heard of hotel concierges. Tho I don’t know exactly what they do. Work the desk? I do have lots of people skills. I love people. I am a natural. Would you believe tho that I was so so shy when I was younger!! 😃

Being shy or not being shy has nothing to do with being an extrovert. Being an extrovert means you get energy from being around other people. An introvert finds being around people draining while an extrovert finds that being around people energizes them.

I got this out of wikipedia on hotel concierge. You might want to peruse the want ads for hotel concierge for a job description.

**In hotels, a concierge assists guests with various tasks like making restaurant reservations, arranging for spa services, recommending night life hot spots, booking transportation (limousines, airplanes, boats, etc.), procurement of tickets to special events and assisting with various travel arrangements and tours of local attractions.
**

They may work at the front desk but they are quite separate from the hotel front desk clerk.

Yes, being around people energizes me! Just like eating does too. That position would be right up my alley!! I would love to do that for the hotel. Being a concierge sounds like fun. It is still hard work.

Than you would like going out with a group to a restaurant to eat. Have you ever thought of joining a suppler club?

I first heard of this when I was at my last place of employment and I was invited to be a member. Basically, the club goes out and explores restaurants and eats at a new restaurant at least once a month.

As for hard work, there is hard work that you love and hard work that you hate. Better to have work that you love. Speaking of which, I am about to start work at a new place tomorrow. Pray for me. I am going to need it.

Congrats on your new job! I will pray for sure! What kind of job is it?

I would love to be a part of a supper club but that costs money to spend on food not counting tips. Are you a member now?

I will be working as a software engineer on locomotive engines, I’ve worked on a variety of products from large telescopes to MRI scanners but I’ve never worked on trains before hence my apprehension,

As for the supper club this was when I was working for my last employer.

He is a priest that is contracted by the military to do religious services such as Mass, etc… for his members. Am I right Southy??

And Southy>I thank you for serving your country. It is an honour. I hope you have fun in your electronics course. I am a bit of a tech geek but not that good. lol.
That’s right. He’s a local priest from out in the community. At some bases we have priests who are actually officers in the military. The great thing about the military priests is that they say Mass at base everyday. I’m very luck to get to go to Mass everyday back at my home base, often with my entire family. If you know any priests that are interested in the military as well, encourage them to join! We need them badly!

Thanks for your kind comments! And the course is interesting. For the last ten years I’ve worked only on gun fire control equipment, but now I get to work on satellite communications. It’s old equipment and so it breaks a lot, but that just means we have job security! lol.

Good luck with your job! A software engineer is a good job!

Even tho it may be job security, why do they keep old stuff around?? lol.

Basically, because of contracts and support infrastructure on the equipment. For every major equipment system, their exists an immense support network of tenured Government Service employees who would have to kill someone to lose their jobs…so, it just ends up being easier to support the old equipment than to replace it with something new.

I will tell you of one of my experiences early in my career just to give you an idea of the kind of madness this is. I needed to replace an electrical compressor motor. Within the government supply system, the item had a list price of $8,000. I thought to myself that price seemed insane. So, I looked up the manufacturer of the motor and contacted them directly…their price was only $800!!! I said, ā€œI’ll take two!ā€ So, here I am thinking that I did a great thing for my country by saving thousands of dollars and feeling very proud of myself. Well, a couple weeks later, the supply officer wanted to know why I purchased a part via commercial means when the part was available through government supply system. I told him because it was cheaper! So, I got a lecture on how these things are contracted and next time use the contract first.

Despite this insanity, people can’t seem to figure out why our nation is on the verge of bankruptcy!

Our government can not get their heads on straight when it comes to saving money!! You are right, it would have been cheaper to go the commercial route instead of using the contract. We are going bankrupt! The economy has not gotten no better.

I was on my own most of the weekend. I did get together with family late on Monday for a quick BBQ dinner. God has determined I’ll be alone for some undertermined reason he’s never informed me about. I get by the best I can. I kept myself busy moving into my new house and cleaning to deter bugs. Also some yard work but it was too hot to do much. I watched a few movies. A hike I was supposed to do was cancelled due to rain so there’s wasn’t many options. It is harder to be alone on the holiday maybe because get togethers are so underlined in the media and in advertisements. Most people do have some function to go to. Usually I go on a float trip but the expenses of the house I just bought have made it impossible for me to go anywhere for some time to come which is very depressing to me being a natural wonderer who’s alway curious about what over the horizon but it is what it is. Everybody tells me someday this house stuff will get easier…not seeing it yet but who knows.

Then why did you buy a house?? lol. I am like you, I like to see what is over the horizon as well. I have the travel bug but can’t go anywhere yet. I am trying to get a job so I can do some traveling. I didn’t do much of anything this past weekend either. I am just glad it is over. I don’t like holidays. Call me a scrooch if you will. 😃

At the time the house seemed a good idea especially with the cost of rent constantly going up and my money just flying to the landlord. I think I should have just bought a condo but it is what it is so I have to deal with what I have not with what I wish I had. 😦

Well, we have plenty of condos for sale here in Florida. They will still be around when you decide in the future to buy one! 😃
