How many rosaries do you own??

A better question might be, “How many times do you pray the Rosary each day?” The beads themselves are just a form. Having a Bible does not save you. Owning a rosary does not protect you. “Attending” Mass does not feed you.

Why own a rosary and pray to Mary, when I could pray to God directly?
 
I don’t know about everyone else, but personally I am getting quite fed up with these questions and polls. Why does it really matter how many rosaries you own? What is important is not how many you own but what you do with them.
 
I have four that I will not part with, when I get more I usually give them away or leave them on the “goodie” shelf at the Armory I am a Chaplain Candidate. The four I keep is the one that belonged to my Grandfather that my Grandmother brought home from her trip to Jerusalem in the 1930s. The second was one I bought at St. Vincent’s Archabbey that was made by one of the monks. These two I usually keep with me. The other two are the standard Knights of Columbus rosary given to council members and the other was one given when I went to Cursillo while I was in Korea. 👍

I have a friend who is a priest in Switzerland and he has sent me several blessed items. He says that you can give items away and they still retain their blessing. You just can’t sell them, thats called simoney (I forgot why) but he works very hard against the people that sell blessed relics on ebay and other places trying to educate people that when they buy blessed items they do loose their blessing.

I own 2 but since I make rosarys I have the parts for many more!
 
I have 4 Rosaries. One in my purse, one in my car and two at home. I also have 2 rosary bracelets!
 
I have about four rosaries:


  1. *]a blue one I got in grade 4 or 5
    *]a decade rosary that was handmade by a lady I known
    *]Everyone in my school got a rosary a couple of years ago
    *]My personal favourite is my grandma’s decade rosary that she gave to me before she died. I love it so much that I carry it in my purse all the time

    I also have one that my brother bought from Fatima he wasn’t going to bring anything back from his trip so my mom told him to at least bring something from Fatima so he brought one rosary but the problem is that it’s broken so my mom is trying to find a place to fix it.
 
I day two. Of course, I have not found the second one since I moved:banghead: PF
 
Instead of kishy stuff I pick up a rosary at various shrines and cities I visit around the world. It gives me a real connection to the place and when I pray it I remember where I got it.
 
Out of curiosity I checked the above St. Philomena link. There is no parish or shrine listed by that name for the diocese of Las Vegas. Also there is no Fr. Meier listed in the priests directory for that diocese. It looks like it is not officially Catholic and may be a rogue group. If the Fr. Meier who posted would be so kind to place on his site whether or not he is affliated with the diocese of Las Vegas. Of course you may contact the diocese and ask them if this chapel is legit. I would strongly suggest that before sending any money.

I have about 14 rosaries right now. And one really big wall rosary:)

He is a catholic priest that was stationed with the military during the 1st desert storm and belongs to the military archdiocese. He was injured when his helecopter crashed and so his work is mostly done online. His “home base” is in Switzerland.
You can check him out with the military archdiocese.
He does quite a bit of work with raising funds for children and he also is a defender of holy relics because many are sold and when sold they loose their blessing.

Warning:

I checked with Vegas. He is not a priest of that diocese nor is he listed in the military archdiocese. If he is Swiss it would be unusual for him to be a US military officer. They also say there is no parish or shrine to St. Philomena listed with the diocese. He does not therefore have permission to operate in the Diocese of Las Vegas. Don’t just take his word for it especially when money is involved. Do not send money to anyone who is not officially recognized by a real diocese or religious order. This man appears to be a rogue and may not even be a priest.
 
I have about 10 of them. Unfortunately, most of them are broken (I’ve set them down on the floor in my room, and they get caught on the carpet, or something like that- it’s not from being overused). I accidentally caught one in the vacuum cleaner brushes and burned up the belt about a year ago. I guess my prayer life had been pretty weak lately, and that was my reminder to get back on track.:o

I just bought a two gorgeous rosaries for Easter gifts (or maybe one will be for mother’s day ormy mother’s birthday…so mnay days coming so soon that need gifts)from a seller on Ebay called “Christian quarter” or Christianquarters. Any way, they are so beautiful and come from Jerusalem. Many being sold have water form the Jordan River in the Mary medal. They would easily run of $20.00 here, and I purchased each for roughly 10. Worth checking out if you want to increase your collection, after reading this thread.

Right now I only have one rosary myself. My grandmother gave me two that I valued highly, one for communion and one for confrimationt hat were herilooms to her. Some creep in my family stole some things for me while I was in grad school (one of my parents or siblings) and the rosaries were among them (I did not feel safe taking them with me to shared housing until I knew the people there). The theft of the rosaries disturbed me the most necuase they had the most sentimental value.

Now I only have one rosary, but it is one I found in my grandmother’s house after she died, and something a friend of hers brought back from Rome that was blessed by the Pope.
 
I have three rosaries and each one holds a special spiritual significance in my prayer life.
  • the one I carry in my purse and use at adoration, group prayer or after Mass is my first communion rosary from 44 years ago.
  • my mother’s rosary which she used daily uintil she died at age 88 is the one i use when i go to my “inner room” to pray at home
  • the other sits on my dresser and that one i got from my sister, a nun, who studied in Rome and had it blessed by Blessed John, the XXIII many moons ago. I use that one when i pray after going to bed. the Angels usually finish it for me…
