How many rosaries do you own??

Hey, it’s quite encouraging to come across other Rosary makers! 👍

Let me think…
  • I have a Galway Rosary that my Godparents gave me for my Baptism,
  • I have a Rosary that I inherited from my grandparents two and a half years ago
  • I have one that I made for myself (the Crucifix was a gift from a close friend of mine)
  • I have two others in my possession that I made
  • and two more that I will soon make for myself 🙂
I make Rosaries to give away, but I can get attached to them, which makes them difficult to give away. I’ve only ever made one “chain” Rosary (more to come soon), the rest are made using some sort of plastic coated wire or thread. Soon I will make a chain Rosary for myself, as I’ve been wanting a red glass chain Rosary for a while now (saw one at a Catholic shop a while back, very tempted to buy it). I just wish I’d use my Rosaries more often 😦

(If it helps, I (almost) always carry them around with me)
 
I have 3 that I call my own. One I bought for myself, one from my mom’s boss when she went to Medjugorie, and one that was given to me from a friend. If I counted all in my household…I think 8 or 9. Kids(3 of them) have at least 1 if not 2 apiece, one from Medjugorie and one I gave them at communion, Fiancee (keeps them at my house) has 2 One I gave him and 1 from K of C. and his daughter has 1 I gave her for communion.
 
I wish I had a roasary. I am about to become Catholic. Have been in another church most of my life, but have visited services many times at a catholic church, and found them to be so scared and Holy in their services. To me, after searching so long for holy worship to God, this was a dream come true for me. You are all blessed for being catholic, in my opinion,thank you, Kiri

Congratulations, and welcome! Hopefully someone near you who has a lot of rosaries will give you one!

I have more than 30 rosaries, but I’m not sure of the exact number. One is the rosary I bought when I first returned to the Catholic Church, because I thought I should have one. I don’t use this one much anymore, because the beads are very small, and it’s hard for me to “feel” them without looking at them, if that makes any sense. Two are symbolic rosaries (the second one bought after I gave up trying to constantly repair the first one). One is my Franciscan Crown rosary, and all the rest are from the Missionary Oblates.

If I’m ever around anyone who needs a rosary, I’m prepared!
 
Five & a fraction…I am in the midst of making another one. I crochet them. It is tricky the first time, after that, its a cinch. The one I am working on right now is made from red, white, &blue shaded thread. I have a pile of crucifixes ahead, and pile upon pile of crochet cotton. There is nothing in the world like praying with a rosary you make your self. And making them is a very blessed way to keep your hands busy.
On a practical note, the crocheted ones, like the knotted kind, are very very strong. (They even survive going through the wash in my jeans’ pocket!!) If the little plastic crucifix doesn’t encounter too much heat/fire, I think they might go on for decades.(Hmmm…No pun intended, honest!)
 
It’s kind of funny, looking back on this poll, I originally answered one, as that’s all I had at the time - my grandfather’s. It actually became weak with repeated use, so I decided I wouldn’t use it as much, so I bought another to carry along with me, just a cheap one, so that if I encountered someone in need of one, I wouldn’t have any reservations about giving it away. The beads actually turned out to be too small, so I bought a bigger one. Then someone gave me one in a most unique way (which is what I pray with regularly), and I received one when I joined the Knights of Columbus too. I also find myself picking up a cheap plastic one everytime I visit the local Catholic Store.

Considering I haven’t had the chance to give any away, oddly enough, I now probably have about 10 (including the plastic ones). No wonder my devotion to Our Lady has grown by leaps and bounds 🙂
 
I dont own a single one…yet. I have been raised Roman Catholic, but never been very faithful. I only attended Church on Christmas and Easter, sometimes not even then.

My Grandmother was a very strict Roman Catholic and tried to raise me as so too. I just didn’t see her enough for it to get nailed into my head. Last February, she passed away. She was 100% Polish, (making me about 25%) and all she ever did was talk about the Pope. She worshipped the ground he walked on. When she died, i was crushed, i thought I was over it, and then the Pope got sick, and eventually passed.

In light of recent events, I have been filled with spirituality and want to discover myself and my faith. I am very, very green about everything when it comes to the Church. I honestly don’t even know what I am supposed to do with a rosary, but I look forward to finding out, as well as everything else.

So, to answer the question, i have 0, but in the coming months, that number will change.

Dear mgrant44 – I’m so sorry on the loss of your grandmother. May perpetual light shine upon her!

I’ve been a Catholic my entire life… and only now in my upper 40’s am I really GETTING the rosary… and how it works… deep down.

It was by seeing (no, I should say “experiencing”) the movie, The Passion of the Christ, that kicked me into higher gear with the rosary.

I still have the glass crystal rosary that Mom and Dad gave to me when I was confirmed in 19–oh, about 30 years ago. Mom died in 1990, but it wasn’t until my father died did I have access to her jewelry box. Turns out, that’s where her rosary was. My sister is no longer even Christian or believes in God at all (please, everybody, pray for her). She’s the executrix of our parents’ estate, and because she doesn’t believe in God, she told me to go ahead and take Mom’s rosary if I wanted it.

I did… it’s a really great one. Small, soft edged rectangles of a dark brown wood of some kind are used for all the beads. I’ve never seen anything like it! So, I keep it inside the house at all times.

In my truck is where I keep the rosary that I bought for myself a couple of years ago that I like so much.

My “Confirmation” rosary also stays at home… in a bag. Don’t really know why, but it just seemed to be the “thing to do” with it so that I don’t lose it.

Meantime, I’m using Mom’s rosary!

I’ve got a couple of rosaries that a friend of mine made for me. And a cheap plastic one that was given to me by a friend who tells me that it was blessed by the Pope when she went to Rome a few years ago.

I’ve got a wood plaque (that I’m planning to hang up on the wall) with posts on which you’re supposed to hang necklaces. I’m going to hang all my rosaries there… to remind me to pray the rosary.

Hope that you keep on learning and re-learning the Faith, dear friend. May the Holy Spirit lead you to what He wants for you to remember and realize in the sequence of things that He wants for you to pick up all the various richnesses of our Faith!

i have 2. one my mom bought for me when i made my first communion, and one blessed by pope john paul ii that my aunt bought for me when she was in rome a couple of years ago.
 
Since I make them, I have a lot. But I have 3 personal ones, plus the one hanging on my rearview mirror.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to have a different rosary for each of the sets of mysteries. Like, clear for luminous, red or black for sorrowful, gold for glorious, and blue or white for joyful. But I haven’t gotten around to making them.

When I was in England I was at York Minster (Church of England/Episcopal/Anglican) and I seen rosaries for sale in the gift shop. I found that funny. I couldn’t wait to get home to tell my Anglican friend.

Yes, in recent years, Anglicans have rediscovered the Rosary, although theirs is configured differently than ours. Instead of 10 Aves, they have 7, and they don’t call them “decades” they call them “weeks”. I don’t know if the prayers they use are the same. I think they have a total of 33 beads for the 33 years of Jesus’ life.

On www.rosary-artisans.com they have both Anglican and Catholic rosaries. I’m a member of that guild - but mine are all Catholic! I’m not promoting this site so you will buy my rosaries, it’s just that it’s the only url I know off the top of my head that has Anglican rosaries if you want to see what they look like.
 
I have one right now. I would like to get one with wooden beads…I really like those.

I have quite a few ‘prayer’ items too.
Two glow in the dark rosaries.
One chotki I made from an old rosary.
Just this past Thursday a friend of mine, his mother, took me to help her carry some things out of her aunt’s house…(the aunt died and getting the house ready to sell).
Well my friend’s mother asked me to take whatever I wanted.

A lot of the things were old, like from the 1960’s and 70’s, but of the three things I got, one was a statue of Mary, and inside it were two more rosaries.

and then I found here at home, an unused rosary.
All in all I have at least 6 rosaries.
I should send one to a friend’s son who will be making his First Communion next weekend.

If I wanted a chotkis made from Glow in the Dark beads, could I get one made? I’m visually impaired and it helps me find them in the dark. And big enough beads to feel them.

important is usage of it.

I have one and have use it for approx. 10 years.
 
I have about three, but only use one from my Confirmation. The other is from First Communion and the other I plan on carrying around so that if anone is interested, they can have it.
 
I currently own three; one Franciscan crown rosary; one standard rosary with wooden beads; and another standard rosary of black plastic. I carry one in my backpack, one in my inside jacket pocket, and keep one at home, so that I always have a rosary available on me whenever I get the urge to pray the rosary.

Right now I have about six dozen, but that’s because I make them, the plasic-and-cord mission kind and the all-twine knotted ones like the Rosary Army uses.

For my own use, though, I keep only one standard rosary and one Orthodox-style prayer rope.

I don’t know if your going to read this but GOD BLESS YOU. When I was in the Army I had one and loved it. I liked the cord ones over the plastic ones cause they didn’t get slick in the rain. I did alot of rosaries on guard duty. Thanks again.

I hand made a silver one and made it industrial strength because I always break normal ones in a few months.
