How many rosaries do you own??

I love this quote! It’s exactly how I feel about it, too. I am of the “less is more” philosophy. I think I’ve only bought two for myself, yet I have several rosaries because friends and family like to bring them to me from their travels. They are so loving and sincere and excited at giving me a meaningful gift they know I will use that I can only feel exceedingly grateful.

I’ve enjoyed reading that so many people say they have “lots.” It makes me smile and wish to know these people. They are Catholic, through and through, and if one were going to have a lot of anything, what better than rosaries. . .

May Christ’s peace reign in your hearts and homes.

I always carry two with me. The one that I use and one to give away, along with information about how to pray the rosary. I am always prepared to teach.

I have two rosaries that I can easily find. I love to buy beautiful and lovely rosaries but end up giving them away. I do not want to give in to the temptation of just owning rosaries. When I am tempted to buy another rosary, I tell myself that it’s more important to pray the one(s) I already own.
 
Ihave at least six rosaries–One in each handbag, several by my bed and special ones such as the one from Bethlehem and the one from Medjegorie )sp?)
 
I have about 20 or so rosaries. I keep them at home, work and on my person. You never know when someone else may need a rosary, which is why I keep so many of them. I know that you can only use one at a time. Yet sometimes having an extra rosary around to give someone is often “just what the doctor ordered” for them and that may start them on a good path for the rest of their life. Joe
 
Lemme see: One by my bed, purple glass beads, purchased in Rome and blessed by the Pope:
One in my purse, red glass beads, a gift from a friend;
One by my prayer table, pearl beads, my gift when I converted
One in my van hanging from the rearview mirror, natural beads ;made of some sort of seed, handmade by a woman I know
One on my keychain (finger sized) metal;
One very large one hanging on the living room wall under the pictures of the Sacred Hearts;
One in my wallet, totally flat, the size of a credit card, with tiny little bumps for beads;
And then there’s the ones each of my five kids owns, and the ones my husbands owns, and the ones in the prayer basket in the living room for guests…

😛 I love being Catholic! 👍
 
My family used to get on every year form Seton Home Study School…my mom thought it was bad to throw them out so she has them in a bag in the bottom of the outdoor shed somewhere.

I really just have one rosary, the one I brought to World Youth Day which was blessed by the pope. It has a benectine crucifix on it.
Just the other day, however, the Polish priest at my church brought me a rosary from Fatima.

The rosaries I do not “count” —the one missing a bead or two that I felt pity for, the one from World Youth Day that breaks all the time, the walking rosary I lost long ago, and the knotted cord braclet rosaries that my youth group makes…I have not seen nor prayed on these in years
 
The feeling of always haveing a rosary with you is just such a comfort. I never leave the house without my rosary case. You never know when you may need it or whe you may feel the urge to pray about something/someone! 🙂
 
Rosaries. I love this question. I have so many rosaries I can’t count them. I rescue them from garage sales, estate sales, make them give them away, etc. There has to be a rosary in every pocket and at least three in my purse or car. I even have a plastic box “apple” filled with rosaries. Remember the old saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Well a rosary a day keeps the devil at bay.

A short rosarie story, My wife called on an elderly lady that was (as she put it) black blind. She had many rosaries and said each one for a specific person. She said this made the devil mad and he would attack her and the rosaries, they would get broken, and because I make and repair rosaries she would always have one to send home with my wife to be repaired. She was always the happiest person I think I ever met. I know she can see our Lord now.
 
Until last year when it broke I had had the same rosary for 19 years (I had received it when I was 6). It was a mass produced one, but I loved it so. I would sleep with it under my pillow as a child, and could not sleep unless it was near me- sort of how a child needs a teddy bear. I remember what great comfort it brought me. When it broke, I was really said and it took me some time to buy a new “fancier one”. I have noticed though I have fallen into my old habit of having it in bed with me when I need to go to sleep.
 
i’ve never touched a rosery but i have seen some in my grandmas house
but i wouldnt touch one with a bardge pole

**I seem to do the same thing…Especially when I am deeply troubled over something. Just holding the beads is a comfort.:yup: **
 
I used to have several Rosaries.

Most came from my Grandmother, and they were all several decades (perhaps over a century) old and marked with a metal piece that denoted “indestructible”

I have since had two children and have learned that the maker of those rosaries (and the metal tag denoting “indestructable”) must have been childless.

There is one left, and I care for it deeply. It stays out of reach of the kids.

Fourteen (if I counted right) that I’d call my own, plus a wall rosary, plus a handfull that haven’t been given away yet.

The reason for so many is that I make rosaries, and am on an rosary-makers’ email discussion group that does rosary exchanges among the members every so often. Many of the rosaries I have are ones that I received through exchanges, and are reminders of other people in the group.

I don’t think I will ever have “too many”, because the Rosary had a big role in bringing me into the Catholic Church. I actually started making them before I even dreamed I’d ever be a full-fledged Catholic!

I’ve loved reading the posts here of people talking about their rosaries. Your devotion really shines through. Keep it up.
 
I have a little plastic one that my now "anti-Catholic hierarchy"son brought home from Catholic school. sigh I learned to pray the Rosary on it.

I have a black one that was given to my son by my friend for his First Communion. My friend had an abortion a few years prior to that. I will pray for her baby on that one now.

I had a wooden one from Bethlehem that I gave away to someone that needed it more than me.

I have a faux pearl one but the “pearls” are too small so I rarely use it.

I currently use a blue beaded one with a Miraculous Medal joiner that I bought in Colombia. I had it in my pocket when my marriage was finally convalidated and I was finally able to receive Communion again.

The knotted cord rosaries are the best for using in bed. They don’t have any hard parts or sharp edges, so they don’t hurt to lay on!
 
I’m not really sure how many I have. When my husband travels on business, he brings me rosaries. I have rosaries from Honolulu, Berlin, Seoul, London, and I should be getting one from Australia next month!! —KCT
