I had someone approach me and ask me to make her 4 matching sets: blanket/2 burp rags/2 wash cloths. That’s 4 blankets, 8 burp rags and 8 wash cloths. I told her I’d get as much done as I’m able and I think we’ll both be content with whatever I’m able to accomplish.
So here’s my question: how much do I charge per set? I’m thinking $40. I’m just doing a simple light flannel blankie w/ batting and solid backing/binding and simple burp rags w/ the matching flannel and buying el cheapo wash cloths and sewing the matching flannel to that as well (she wants everything to match). My goal is to keep the supplies under $10 per set. I’m probably not giving myself enough for my time, but I’m thinking $40 is about retail price for a set like this. I’m not good at quilting, but I may be able to do some on the machine and some may just be the knotted yarn throughout (if ya KWIM).
Her grandbaby is due in October and she wants this for a gift in August. If I’m diligent I could probably get 2 sets done by then and maybe offer to do another set for when the baby comes and a 4th for Christmas (if she’s still interested). The wheels are turning now and I may ask if she’d be interested in some of those onsies w/ the numbers on them for each month/pictures.
I’m probably in over my head w/ a FT job and 4 littles, but I’ve been praying for God to show me a way to save up for school enrollment fees this fall and I feel like this would be a good opportunity. Please also pray for me for this intention!
