How much should we care about heaven or another's soul

I don’t disparage. I don’t want to be evangelized to by another religion. Maybe I should quit these forums honestly I’ve learned to be cynical. How open are you to hearing a Jehovah witness tell you the Catholic Church is satanic and you may burn in hell?
Isn’t the Catholic Church supposedly the right one anyways

I don’t believe God puts people in our lives. As for learning more about my faith, I’m open to it. I don’t think these forms are truly helpful to me honestly. Tbh it is the political stances or stances on social issues that has turned me off about the faith.

Is this forum the only place causing you to form this opinion? How’s your home parish? Could you get more involved there? CAF is the internet. A lot of people are working through a lot of things here. It’s not always pretty.

No, my home parish is welcoming. Although reaction to Barack Obama election years ago had me questioning the issue of race within the Catholic Church. No I am not saying people who disagreed with Barack are racist before you assume. Some reactions made me consider otherwise. Same way people react to issues of immigration, police brutality, white privilege, or the whole neo Nazi rally.

I should not be so cynical. There are some truly kind Catholics I met in college. My home parish for the most part is very welcoming. I’ve never actually had too many issues with Catholics in real life, I guess it’s the internet

I get frustrated by some people of faiths’ kneejerk reactions to political topics at times but never the Church in all her wisdom. The Catholic Church is so much bigger and more timeless than American politics! All cranky political Catholics of any flavor can recieve the graces to stop being crabs…given enough exposure to the sacraments.

Free Will is given to all, and Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the one unforgivable sin. Your choice, your consequence. May God have mercy on your soul.

As for everyone else who wants better for you, well I think it’s only natural to care about others. Additionally, we Christians are called to evangelize. We are living our faith. Your decision to be cynical about it is on you.

Where did I choose to blaspheme the holy spirit? As for being cynical about evangelism, not all evangelists have clean motives. Some can be pushy and disrespectful, just because they supposedly trying to save my soul doesn’t excuse their behavior.

I meant because according to various religions, I’d be condemned to it. I was talking about Muslim, Jehovah witness, certain Protestants think by solely being Catholic I’m damned. So i think threatening me with hell means very little. I could care less. According to many different religions I’d be condemned to it.

I think we were having a hard time following your meaning. You are turned off by the word evangelism because you associate it with door knocking and perhaps don’t understand other ways we are called to evangelize?

I won’t hate on door knockers. There is a cloud of mosquitos that live at my front door. It takes serious bravery.

All cranky political Catholics
Stop referring to me 😠🚬
Please start a third party, the crab party. I might vote for you as I’ve been known to throw my support to third party folks.

It’s so much easier explaining things in person. So many denominations evangelize these days. If I listened to every person who has told me they have the truth or that if I don’t repent and follow their ways, I’d be a Baptist Mormon Jehovah witness.

Sincere question. Why hasn’t this made you throw yourself fully into the loving arms of the Catholic Church? Something in you is Catholic when these agressive evangelists of other faiths have your back against the wall.

I’m too stubborn to change my Catholic faith every time someone new tells me I should. That’s originally what motivated to want to learn more about Catholicism. I’m learning I’d rather not have discussions on religion with some

That’s legit. I try not to continue conversations that I don’t think will be fruitful. Notice I am still talking to you. 😉

Can I ask what spiritual reading or programs you’ve tried lately? Can we point you to any?

I don’t mind. Any good reads? Please not St. Augustine’s diary. That is the most difficult Catholic literature. Anything simple and easy to understand.
