After losing my faith and trust in God I’m scared. Scared to fully trust in him but scared to not trust in him at all. I guess I never fully trusted in the first place though. Is it ok to open my heart to God just a little bit? Otherwise I have absolutely nothing. 😦

Yes that is OK. Give your trust to God as much as you can. Open your heart to Him as much as you are able. Give God some willingness of trust. Let God take it from there. God knows our heart. His unconditional love and his almighty power will guide, guard and protect you. God bless you on your journey!

John 20:24-29
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Of course! As InLight says, open your heart as much as you are able. If “just a little bit” is all you can give right now, better to do that than nothing at all.

God bless 🙂

In order to know how much to trust, we first need to know why we need trust. Because trust is just another word…or is it?

How important is trust?

One example which is so obvious is the miraculous medal that Mary presented to Sr. Catherine Laboure, now a saint. She said to the sister that the greater the trust a person had in her, the greater the graces would be.

Jesus emphazied trust. To the centurion who asked that his son be cured, “be it done according to your faith.” Faith in this instance not only meant that the centurion had faith that Jesus had the power to cure his son, but it also meant that he would cure his son because he trusted Jesus’ word.

On another occasion, Jesus mentioned that he could not do many miracles in a certain town because of their lack of faith. (Faith in these instances does not mean faith in dogma or teaching.)

So now it seems that faith/trust is very important in our relationship with Jesus. Jesus himself values our trust in him and works in view of our trust in him.

It is also important to the practise of humility. Because if we only trust ourselves, then we don’t trust Jesus. This is one of the reasons people do not pray, because they see no need to trust Jesus. They think they can do everything quite nicely by themselves. But a humble man always goes to God before he undertakes any action because he knows that all good comes from God and not from himself. So when a person who does not trust Jesus does something, he will not bear fruit of himself because of his pride. God lifts up the humble.

And why shouldn’t we trust him? He loves us more than we love ourselves or even our own mother. He died a horrible death for us, gave us his all. Why would we not trust him?

He trusts us. He gives himself to us in the Eucharist, his very own body, soul, and divinity, to be one with us and in us. What greater love and union is their than this? What great trust he places in us.

After communion he stays with us in the divine presence in our soul thruout the day. He loves us that much not to want one moment to go by during the entire day where he is not with us…with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Why would we not trust him absolutely.

A fast way to learn trust…go to your blessed Mother.

May the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be in you, with you and beside you to guide and comfort you.

Yes, and no.
I understand that people are encouraging you to give God what you can, and to not be frustrated. And that is all any of us can do. But at some point, the door to trust is only opened by a decision to go “all-in”. You may not be able to actually give your 100% trust to God, but at some point, you must make a decision that you are willing to do just that, and let God take you from there. It is a decision, a choice. And from there, to live and grow in trust is a process that is ongoing. And it can be painful.
In my life, it means letting go of things like lust. If I will love my wife sacrificially and not as an object, will God take care of all needs? Yes he will. Is it hard to let go of hurts and rejections? Yes it is. But if I say yes to God, he will guide and provide. And usually in ways I do not want, but it’s his way, that’s all that matters.

Regardless, you can’t tell God you’ll let go of little bit of yourself, God is not deceived. Trusting a little bit is not truly trusting. Trust implies a complete confidence in God, a choice to give one’s entire self over to God, in order to be remade. It takes time and patience.
It’s helpful to meditate on who God is, that he is infinitely worthy of our trust.

IV. THE IMPLICATIONS OF FAITH IN ONE GOD
222 Believing in God, the only One, and loving him with all our being has enormous consequences for our whole life.
223 It means coming to know God’s greatness and majesty: "Behold, God is great, and we know him not."46 Therefore, we must “serve God first”.47
224 It means living in thanksgiving: if God is the only One, everything we are and have comes from him: "What have you that you did not receive?"48 "What shall I render to the LORD for all his bounty to me?"49
225 It means knowing the unity and true dignity of all men: everyone is made in the image and likeness of God.50
226 It means making good use of created things: faith in God, the only One, leads us to use everything that is not God only insofar as it brings us closer to him, and to detach ourselves from it insofar as it turns us away from him:
My Lord and my God, take from me everything that distances me from you.
My Lord and my God, give me everything that brings me closer to you.
**My Lord and my God, detach me from myself to give my all to you.**51
227 It means trusting God in every circumstance, even in adversity. A prayer of St. Teresa of Jesus wonderfully expresses this trust:
Let nothing trouble you / Let nothing frighten you
Everything passes / God never changes
Patience / Obtains all
Whoever has God / Wants for nothing
God alone is enough.52

Thank you for all the replies. Right now I am not on the right path. My path is dark, lonely and headed in the wrong direction. I trust no one on this earth anymore. I’m afraid of not being able to trust in God and what it means if I don’t. He’s the only way I will get off of where I’m heading. If my trust has to be fully in him than I have a long way to go, but my life depends on my trusting in Him.

Thanks for the replies. Somehow I need to find a way to fully trust in God. I’m not going in the right direction. I think I am angry with god because I tried so hard to live a life of faith, then it all seemed to fall apart on me. He left me with nothing. But now He’s the only way out of where I’m headed. My life depends on my trusting in God.

We all need to fully trust in God –
All God wants I will give (like Abraham sacrificed Isaac).
All God gives I gladly accept (including all trials and hardships).

Total abandonment is a life time effort. We can start with where we are and let God work in us.🙂
