It is our contributors who should be thanked - with their overwhelming support (90%) for the view that miracles occur very frequently. :clapping:Thank you for a most uplifting thread.
LOL we could not be contributing had you not started the thread. It is our contributors who should be thanked - with their overwhelming support (90%) for the view that miracles occur very frequently. :clapping:
This seems like a common sense definition, but I think it will cause problemsA suspension of the laws of nature.
So it was a coincidence that a group of children hallucinated their vision of Mary, our Beloved Mother, who told them when to expect the miracle of the sun at Fatima? And then the actual miracle?Relating this to miracles, so as not to derail the thread: I try not to believe in anything, but to accept as real only those things which can be demonstrated. these are facts. I have never seen anything approaching the demonstration of a miracle - that is something which could not have happened without the intervention of forces beyond the natural world. i would accept as a miracle something like an amputated arm growing back, or a perfectly preserved corpse that had been in a fast-flowing river for a century. But I do not accept things which can and do happen in the normal course of events, such as spontaneous remission of cancer, or a fine day for the Church fair. I also understand coincidence, and that it is in their nature to happen. Coincidence is the best explanation for many claimed miracles. Outside the miracles and religion field, you might say that I ‘believe’ in parliamentary democracy. But i do not say it that way. I say I have concluded that democracy is a more robust protection for people and their freedoms than other systems.
The only new law that could be established for events which occur in many different circumstances and have only thing in common is that they protect living beings from injury and death! It would have to be a law based on love rather than indifferent processes…A suspension of the laws of nature.![]()
I started the thread because there are some Catholics on this forum who believe miracles are very rare and interfere unnecessarily with the laws of nature! So they are the ones to be thanked… although I don’t think all those who have been healed would agree with their scepticism…It is our contributors who should be thanked - with their overwhelming support (90%) for the view that miracles occur very frequently.
Pope Benedict and all the bishops, priests, nuns and lay pilgrims to Lourdes must be seriously misguided if miraculous cures never or very rarely occur…
Which is it be - in your considered opinion?Every moment or never
There must have been many that could not be noticed because scientists could not keep track of the precise extent of every natural disaster throughout history and throughout the world…
More or less, as often as we notice.

Would you like to give us more details?More likely to happen when groups of people come in prayer. I’ve been a witness to one.
Very frequently. I think that the birth of a newborn baby or a soul that turns to Christ, or returns to Him, are good examples of miracles that occur many times during each day.
Is God’s existence considered miraculous?Which is it be - in your considered opinion?![]()
OH and if miracles never do occur, how in the world did the Church declare all the Saints to be saints, when miracles are necessary for part of canonization?I started the thread because there are some Catholics on this forum who believe miracles are very rare and interfere unnecessarily with the laws of nature! How can anyone who believes in a loving Father think He never protects His children against misfortune? Why permit suffering if it can be prevented without making it obvious that He exists?OH and if miracles never do occur, how in the world did the Church declare all the Saints to be saints, when miracles are necessary for part of canonization?
[NOTE: I believe in miracles but am trying to drive a point home.]

It happened in Portugal, in Sao Miguel on the Feast of Christ of Miracles. It involved weather that completely changed as Christ(statue of miracles) was presented to the faithful/ prayers(my mother also seen it). Anyways Portugal (when I was there) are completed filled with the faithful, and it is so different there - I can’t explain it(maybe that’s what heaven would be like). The last time I was there, was September 11, 2011; yes when that awful tragedy happened). My flight was scheduled to arrive at Toronto at 9:00 am but had to do a quick landing at a Montreal airport - I was so scared we had a rocky landing, and no one knew what was going on. Most of my life altering experiences happened while or leaving Portugal. You can google Sao Migue(Christ of miracles) if you want, it will tell give you a description of that festival. I don’t know how Sao Miguel is now but back then, was amazing.Would you like to give us more details?![]()
