I try to go at least once a month. Sadly, I’m quite overdue for a visit; I need to make that a priority for this weekend.

My goal is once/month, but reality is more like once every 4 months. Not frequent enough.

I’m sporadic when it comes to going to Confession. When I made my first confession last year, I went two or three more times within a one or two month period. Now I tend to go every three or four months.

I go once a week at least (used to go twice before I came to Rome) and I try to write them down with the help of a examination of conscience guide.
Scruples happen when you don’t hate your sins enough and worry too much about the you part of the sin and not the offended which is God. This is the only time you should pay attention to yourself.
To see the wreck you are and fix it. Honesty but not scruples.
Stepping on a “cross” formed by two twigs on the floor is not sacriledge.

And trust me, there are times in which not running a red light is a sin for not using the brain God gave you!👍

And about which priest…
I can honestly careless unless I have around me all the time.

I hate going from conversation to confession.

These days I don’t look for a spiritual director. I know what I have to do. But like everyone, our will does not always order us.

So I settle for a valid absolution.

I make it a point to go every two weeks, even if I do not have any mortal sin to confess. And I go for the grace that comes from every sacrament, not to mention confession. I like to obtain supernatural help while I am still on earth. After we die it will be too late. We need it for everyday living.
Well Said:angel1:
I try to go twice a week…in community it will be more often…
As others have mentioned sometimes it can be daunting…

Five things that helped me were
1)What was said so well by tgliang.
2)Hearing Fr Coropi
3)Having a devotion to The Divine Mercy
4)Saying the Rosary… and wishing to extend indulgences to the poor souls and deepen my prayer life…so frequent confession is a must]
5) Finally in a practical spritfilled way I came across the following books : 101 Inspirational Stories of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. [and] A Catholic Guide 'Preparing for the ‘Sacrament of Reconciliation’…Sister Patricia Proctor, OSC

I go once a month, before the First Friday. It keeps me on a regular schedule.

As for the poster who said people here might discourage someone from going to confession once a month, I think that arises out of a concern from scrupulosity. If a person on the forum was showing scrupulous tendencies, posters would probably dissuade them from going to confession frequently, as would a priest.

Having just gotten into the habit of going about once a month, it seems like I’ve been needed to go more frequently. I don’t know if this is because I’ve been particularly struggling with sin lately, or just become more aware. But I have to say, daily Mass has also been a huge sin deterrant since I can’t stand going to Mass if I can’t receive the Eucharist.

hi all… i go at least every two weeks…and that is making me just a bit angry, not the act of going, but because i need to.i would be a lot more content with myself if i had no need of reconcilation with God.see i am the type who will give myself a few good kicks when i am down in the dirt of sin.bad habit i guess.it makes me angry, at myself, when i fall into sin.

That isn’t going to happen this side of heaven - all the greatest saints and Popes had to go regularly until their dying day.

Then again, didn’t Jesus say ‘there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just who have no need of repentance’. Just think of it as bringing all that extra joy to heaven! 😃

Now THERE’S perspective for ya! 👍

Better to be angry than ok with it.

That “I am weak” mentality doesn’t help us move up the staircase.

We have to hate sin to defeat it.
