Yes, I don’t have a problem with birth control.
Well…your full post seems to say that you ARE open to life unless you have to carry the baby. Not being Catholic, I assume you aren’t aware that Catholics believe that our religion is objectively true, and therefore believe these life issues are relevant for every human being, Catholic or not.Yes, I don’t have a problem with birth control.
I find this statement fascinating. Were you not the author of several posts on another thread stating that “baby killers” should “burn,” that “baby killers” were “going to hell” and “we should happily see them go to the devil?” Do you realize that several common forms of birth control, including the pill, IUD, and so called “emergency” contraception can and do act as abortifacients? How in God’s name do you reconcile these two positions–Catholic or not?Yes, I don’t have a problem with birth control.
Good catch Island Oak–I was on that thread too, but I didn’t connect the name to the statements. Perhaps it’s too much to ask someone who delights in the potential damnation of another to offer a well-reasoned point of view, let alone a consistant one.I find this statement fascinating. I am sorry BapCath, but this only muddies the waters further. The post that is MOST confusing is the one on this thread that says you don’t have a problem with birth control–are you now saying that you were only fanning flames (literally) on the other thread and that in addition to believing BC is okay, you also do not hold strong anti-abortion opinions? It’s just not adding up–with those wild statements, were you trying to prove to someone (yourself?) that Catholics are radical pro-lifer nut jobs or pick and choosers like your father appears to be? Sarcasm just doesn’t come across cyber-space very well.Well, I was being ironic in those posts on purpose because I couldn’t believe the vitriol on that thread. I was only repeating what others said to make a point. You Island Oak, and only a couple of other people even bothered to disagree. If you look at the history of my posts, you will see that I never state opinions like that and am very empathetic and caring. That was the only time I have done such a thing because I was shocked at what was being posted.
Actually, Island Oak, you are one of my favorite posters. You are always charitable and kind and you look for the positive.
My father is Catholic and I know that he and my mother used birth control by the way. I haven’t talked to him about this, but I do know he never misses church. Maybe he doesn’t take communion though. I haven’t gone with him in years.
Well, that clears things up a bit…thank-you…it theI am not pro-abortion, but I don’t equate birth control with abortion. I personally have never taken the pill, but not because I was worried about it being abortifacient. In fact, I never heard of that, and I don’t agree with it.
My father is still Catholic, believe me. He goes to church every Sunday. I don’t know the state of his soul or whether he confessed. I am quite sure he never tried to convince my mother to be open to life because I think he was very happy with two children. I couldn’t say for sure though since that is their private business, and I would not interfere or snoop around about their birth control discussions.
I wasn’t trying to fan the fire, but maybe it seemed that way. It’s the only time I have done it on a thread. I just thought that the posters there were way too gleeful about these formerly devoted Catholics leaving the church. They were crowing about them going to hell, etc. and I thought it wasn’t a very Christian way to behave.
I applaud you:clapping:…
Do you honestly think it could be a good thing to face God and say to him, “I want this child but not those others you planned for me”. God is pure love. Children are pure love.
