I was 20 and my husband was 18 I had gotten pregnant with my oldest daughter and we knew we were getting married anyway. It wasnt a church marriage…it was a JP marriage, he was leaving to the army right away and wanted to be married already.

I knew I wanted to be married by at least 21…I wanted kids young. I dont believe in having kids past the age of 30…thats just me. Still being 33 I want another little one 🤷 . However I think that my husband was to young to have been married at his age, but like he said it takes two to tango. I think between the ages of 21 to 26 is ok to get married…if your past 26 consider yourself and old hag (J/K) but I think its way to old to be JUST getting married. My girls have teachers who are older than me and they say they are ‘TOO YOUNG’ to get married…really? Hmmm.

I think the reason I believe what I do is that when you wait to get older you chances at having a successful marriage is not so good. Why? people are usually TO independant thinking when they are older than 26. They dont like to comprimise, they usually tend to be bosses, supervisors and are more prone to being used to getting things done their own way. Its hard to teach and old dog new tricks.

Where as younger people can learn to play as a team. Marriage is about team work. the faster people learn this the better their marriage will be.

Everyone keeps telling my husband and me that we got married REALLY young. We were both 23 … I don’t think that’s THAT young. It’s just a thing with the culture, that people are getting married later now. But I’m getting the impression that here in Catholic circles, people tend to get married a bit younger than in the surrounding culture. So – what age did you get married? (Or, if you’re engaged, at what age will you be getting married?)
I was one month short of my 21st birthday, hubby was 21. We were both too immature and we had a lot of problems. But we hung in there, and celebrated 40 years this past July. One good thing–kids were out of the house and on their own and we were only in our mid-40’s.

The thing that kept me from throwing in the towel was that I truly did believe in the “'til death do us part” vow, even in my immaturity, and though I was not very religious, I felt that a vow made before God was serious business and not to be taken lightly, and unless my children or I were in danger (which we weren’t) I was going to keep that vow. Both of us finally grew up, but we had to weather a lot of storms.

The funny thing is, neither one of us ever considered looking for someone else in all our troubles. Both of us have been entirely faithful to each other. We sometimes joke that God put us together because He knew that no one else could stand living with either one of us.😃

But that is probably more than you wanted to know;)

I was 24 and he had just turned 28. We married a year to the day after our first date.

I was almost 25 I think it’s ok to be married younger, your not as set in your ways.

I was 27 and DW was 30. We were the oldest in our marriage prep class  32 years now.

I was 21, spouse was 25. We struggled financially at first, he was still in college and we had our first child a year later. But, I’d do it all over again. After the child-rearing years, we are compensated with lots of years free time with kids through college and on their own, which includes travel, careers, sports, church and volunteer work, pursuing hobbies, etc. In November 2008, we had a most wonderful 50-year anniversary celebration. Always remember to keep God in your marriage.

I was 22 DH was 25, that was 1 and 1/2 years ago!
Same for us! And our parents! Seems to be a winning combo only for us though.
I’m certain that ages were only slightly the issue. My hubby and I are still madly in love and more deeply committed after 26 years! Jesus Christ has everything to do with our bliss, BTW!

If things continue working out how they are, my boyfriend will be 19 1/2 and I will have just turned 21. He will be halfway through his sophomore year in college, I’ll be halfway through my junior year. Whether or not finances will allow it is yet to be seen. And, he’s not going to attend the college I’m at, but the college he is looking at is 15-20 minutes away, so an apartment in the middle somewhere is feasable.

I had just turned 24 and Hubby was 21 when we got married. When his parents got married, they were both in their early 20s. When my parents got married, my dad was 23 and my mom was 19.

I was 23 and my husband was 25. We married 3 weeks ago!!! Best decision of my life!! (I’ll let you know how things are in 20 years lol)

I was 23 and he was 25. No one said we were too young - this really is the first I’ve heard of early 20s being too young to get married.

It’ll be 10 years in July. Ten good years and one beautiful daughter 😃

I was married at 47 and sometimes I think I was too young to get married. 😉

I was a little less than a month shy of 25, and my wife was a little less than a month shy (we have the same birthday) of 21. We had started dating September 29, 2003, I proposed March 29, 2004, and we were married November 26, 2004 (Black Friday). We now have two kids, ages 3 years (later this month) and 10 weeks (next Tuesday).

I am 38 and still single. To be quite honest, the prospect don’t look too good either.

My husband and I were both 24 when we were married. Back in 1982, 24 seemed old. We have been very happily married for 27 years!
