How old would you like to live to?

As long as I am in a state of Grace… Any day works for me. I don’t see the value of arbitrary numbers as benchmarks.

I will live for as long as God wants, but my preference is to live only until I lose control of my mind or my bowels, whichever comes first.
I have visions of a row of old women with restless legs strapped to their chairs making electricity for their tv with their leg movements attached to a nifty generator. Fed at four to save money on a night shift, given bags to avoid accidents and to save on laundry.
No, I want to go out with my boots on.
Yeah, I’ll go with that!

I’ll live as long as possible, provided I can perform all the “activities of daily living” (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activities_of_daily_living) unassisted. Not a day longer.

The selfish side of me would say probably by 40 at the latest. Unless something happens in my life to make me feel some sort of purpose, meaning, path, passion, etc, I just don’t care.

The unselfish part of me says anytime after my mom dies. Not only would it make her really sad for me to die, she’s the cosigner of my student loans and I wouldn’t want to leave her with that kind of debt. She’s 65 and healthy so she’ll probably live a long time 🙂

Good point - being needed by someone makes a big difference. In my case, I’m the only relative who lives within a reasonable distance of my very elderly father, so I certainly would not want to die while he’s still living.

Thinking about it, based on the experience of my parents and grandparents… I think anytime after 75 I’ll be happy to go. Up 'til that age as long as the general health is good, I noticed that people still feel ‘in the mix’. After that age, they seem to be kinda jealous when someone dies around them. 😛

No more than 80. I have observed that older friends mostly are ok until about that age and then things go downhill. There are exceptions, of course, but my family medical history would either have me alive until as long as 97 or as soon as 68, depending on whose genes I have.

I just wanna live long enough to see how jacked I can get naturally, to reach my physical potential. Having kids would be nice too, so living long enough until they’re established on their own would be good. So I figure living to 65 would be good enough for that.

My grandfather just turned 92. He had a fantastic quality of life until about three years ago. Now, sadly, it’s pretty gruesome.

Put me down for late 80’s.

That’s what following Christ is all about. Sometimes, you just have to suffer a little more so that those around you can suffer a little less.

I don’t want my passing to cause others pain, so I’ll just live for as long as God wants, as well. If it were up to me, though, 22 is also when I would have liked to have kicked the proverbial bucket.

90 to 100. Just seems like a full, well-rounded life. But I wouldn’t want to be bedbound for years on end. However, as someone who started out with five people who either were parents or filled parental roles (long and complicated story) who have ALL died before I turn thirty, I’d like my children to have me around as long as realistically possible.

That said, if my wife dies much younger than that, it would sorely test my resolve toward wanting to live that long. But I hope I’d still want to, for the children’s sake.

Blessings in Christ,
KindredSoul

Tough question. I would say as old as I can be while still being mentally sharp. Some people are very old and still very sharp. Others, not so much. In my family, we age pretty gracefully physically, but mentally… :o Its just a concern of mine lol. Maybe late 70’s early 80’s. Gods will be done.

I’m with you on this.

Subject to that, I’ll add that I do NOT want to outlive my children.
