How or why?

I will answer these questions one at a time via PM
Actually, how about answering the one about the core doctrines? Don’t PM. A “public” response is more appropriate on the CAFs.

What do you believe these core doctrines are? How do you know? Is it because of the Tradition of the Catholic Church or is it because of the Scriptures telling you something is a “core doctrine”?

And what do you make of widely varying opinions of non-Catholic Christians regarding what they believe these core doctrines are (as cited in post #196)? Isn’t your position that even with a “decentralized authority” that you agree all seem to agree on “core doctrines”?

And, the other one I’m hoping to hear your thoughts on is this: how do you know the Holy Spirit inspired some folks to write without error, and that this suddenly stopped…when? How do you know this? Why did it stop? Does Scripture record this or do you know this by some other tradition? Is this tradition infallible?

with all due respect my dear sister…i thought sunday was the day for kickoffs, punt returns, and wings! 😛 sorry couldnt resist. theres your sports analogie…peace 😉
😃

Sports analogies notwithstanding, one has to wonder how the Protestant Reformers would view this devolution into chaos and confusion.

Nevertheless, you stay quite active in order to attack, slice, dice, and “put to rest” every idea that is not entirely Catholic.
Well, yes and no, cooterhein.

I slice, dice and “put to rest” every idea that has divorced itself from the Faith left to us by Jesus to the Apostles and committed to the saints. :curtsey:

And, I follow the CAFs mission, in that I am “dedicated to serving Christ by bringing the fullness of Catholic truth to the world. * help good Catholics become better Catholics, bring former Catholics “home,” and lead non-Catholics into the fullness of the faith.”*

So why would I want to talk to you?
That’s hurtful. :sad_yes:
I’ll do more of it when you demonstrate that there’s any kind of upside for me.
I can tell you now that dialogue with any informed, orthodox Catholic on the CAFs is going to discomfit, annoy and irritate you. So you’re going to be very unhappy if you continue to post here with that attitude.

But if you are a seeker of Truth–and I think you are!–you will stay and ponder and learn. 👍

As Paul says directly by God. Gal 1:1Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead
This is interesting. Someone claims that God ordained him. :hmmm:

If your pastor claimed that, would you believe him?

Number one, the Orthodox are part of the Church, i believe that Ven. Pope John Paul II said they were the right lung of the Church and the Latin rite the left. When it comes to mainstream Protestantism, it is impossible that they are part of the same Church as Catholics, due to major theological differences such as Sola Scriptora, in the Epistles we are warned to never make private interpritations unless guided and approved by the Apostles and their sucessors, the Reformation was due (in large part) to private interpretation. Also as there is only one God with one Will, there can be only one True Church as all denominations have different theologies. While there are many points where we agree those major ones where we do not are enough to prove that we are seperate. Otherwise we would have to coclude that God cantradicts Himself and frankly as this would be a form of lying (which God cannot do) we must then find that there is only One Church surely as there is only One God.
I must respectfully disagree. In order to be a member of the Catholic Church, you must be baptized, profess the true faith and be under the authority of the Sovereign Pontiff and the bishops in communion with him (cf. Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, nn. 6-9; Ven. Pius XII, Mystici Corporis Christi, n. 22; Vatican Council II, Orientalium Ecclesiarum, n. 2).

The Eastern Orthodox, while baptized, do not profess the true faith nor are they in full communion with the Roman Pontiff, the earthly head of Christ’s Church; therefore, they are not members of the Catholic Church.

Are you sure. 😉
Actually, that we are the Original Bible Christians (OBCs :D) is true, to be sure…

However, the Church founded by Christ is not a “bible based church”. We are not a religion of the Book, like Muslims proclaim they are. We are a people of the Word. That is, Jesus, the Divine Word made Flesh.

The Faith was delivered, whole and entire, by Jesus to the Catholic Church *before *a single word of the NT was ever written.

Thus, while we are the OBCs, we were the People of Christ even before that. 🙂

I can tell you now that dialogue with any informed, orthodox Catholic on the CAFs is going to discomfit, annoy and irritate you.
Usually, it really doesn’t do that. I never expect it to work out that way. And there are plenty of informed, orthodox Catholics on CAF. Most of them are not as polemical as you are, though, nor are they as obsessed with slicing and dicing, and they’re usually not nearly as gleeful in patting themselves on the back when they feel that they’ve done something well.

Again, you know the terms. We could do more of this or we could do some of that. Or we can just stop altogether. I’m not playing your game, though. That’s out of the question.

I’m not playing your game, though. That’s out of the question.
As you wish. 🤷

However, I am certain that you will never make the mistake again of claiming this:
The Holy Spirit doesn’t protect anyone from error, and I don’t think you should expect Him to put things into your mind that aren’t there.
For you know now that you will be called to ask how it is that the HS protected “some” men, but that it somehow, inexplicably ended at some inexplicable point in history for some inexplicable reason…

And I doubt that you’ll ever make the mistake of claiming there are some “core doctrines” upon which all Christians believe. Unless, of course, you want to submit to the authority of the Catholic Church’s proclamation of these “core doctrines.”

Sliced! Diced! Refuted! 🎉

HaHA! And speaking of games and being gleeful, see this video.

This is me!

“Man, that feels* good*!”

And, “at the end of the day, everyone’s a winner. Especially me.”

You wouldn’t want to play against me on Family Game Night.

I’m just sayin’. :yeah_me:

Ok. So are you going to answer the questions I asked, or are we pretty much done here?
However, I am certain that you will never make the mistake again of claiming this:
I’ll claim whatever I want, but I won’t make the mistake of interacting with you to any great extent. It’s not worth it.
For you know now that you will be called to ask how it is that the HS protected “some” men, but that it somehow, inexplicably ended at some inexplicable point in history for some inexplicable reason…
At this point, I’m willing to give you explanations via PM only. You know the terms.
And I doubt that you’ll ever make the mistake of claiming there are some “core doctrines” upon which all Christians believe. Unless, of course, you want to submit to the authority of the Catholic Church’s proclamation of these “core doctrines.”
There’s quite a bit to that issue, and I’d be willing to exchange words with you via PM. Not anything else at this point, though.
Sliced! Diced! Refuted! 🎉
There’s a reason no one wants to play with you on family game night.

That is the gospel; Jesus is the Son of God. That is what the Jews were waiting for, the Messiah as their salvation. That’s the promise of the OT.

Gal 1:16 immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood. He did not consult with any people. V17*** neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me***; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. And he did not go to the church either. He went back to Damascus for three years before going to Jerusalem then only to get “acquainted”. V18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Peter and stayed with him fifteen days.

Bottom line after Paul was called by God to preach he did. It does not take ordination to do what God has called you to do.

Your story denies Gal 1:1 Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead. Men did not ordain Paul by his own word.
**Jericho - do you even bother to read the posts?
**In post 217, I educated you on the fact that NONE of the Apostles were appointed by men. they were apoointed by God. Paul was not any more special than the other Apostles in this regard. **

**I have given you ample evidence that he bowed to the authority of the Church, yet every one of your posts repeats the same thing. **

What’s your point?
