Actually it will mean a lot of people flying in from other states to have their abortions thereWhich will mean no change in the pro-abortion People’s Republic of California.

A case has to be presented to the court first. A suitable case. The SC interprets law; it does not make it. It cannot simply “outlaw” anything. You outlaw abortion immediately and follow up appropriately. It was the same with slavery- it was outlawed as soon as the political will to outlaw it was mustered. Alas, the follow-up was deficient, and so blacks, though free, continued to be oppressed for generations.
That is the heart of the matter, and so far, Catholics have been unwilling to help an over-burdened, economically disadvantaged mother or mother-to-be. Pro-life means ALL lifeMy question for you is, what are you doing to help women that might feel they have no choice but an abortion? Normally I wouldn’t ask but apparently you feel very comfortable with me.
I agree with you. I also don’t believe Catholics have the right to dictate to women of the Jewish faith. Orthodox Judaism mandates abortion if the mother’s life is in danger. The Constitution guarantees freedom of religion.I don’t get you abortion nuts. I say it with all due respect, but it’s just hard to grasp why you so desperately feel the need to overturn a law that was ruled on decades ago. I have a personal pro life stance, but that doesn’t mean I can tell other people what they can do with their bodies. And the science is hard to deny on this issue. I am fine with 1st trimester, but late in the pregnancy, I don’t condone, unless it’s a life of the mother type of circumstance.
The Catholic Church teaches that civil law should reflect the moral law. It is correct to make it illegal. Illegal activities do occur in the underworld, however they are known as wrong acts per our laws and that is important.Well, first Kavanaugh hasn’t been confirmed yet, though I think he will be…eventually.
The problem with overturning Roe v. Wade is just the beginning. Women will continue to have abortions. They’ll just go out of the country or go to “backstreet” abortionists, who will probably flourish. I don’t think overturning Roe v. Wade will end abortions by any means. Murder, theft, robbery, rape, etc., are all criminal acts, yet people engage in them in great numbers.
The real problem, and the real victory, lies in convincing women that abortion is murder. That convincing won’t be accomplished by being authoritarian. It will be accomplished by education, compassion, and making life livable for all. I don’t see that happening.
How do you figure on this?Non-Christians will see overturning Roe v. Wade as bringing together church and state, and probably rightly so.
I, myself, don’t believe in abortion and would not have one or encourage anyone to do so, but I would hate to see what happens if and when Medicaid discontinues that program as well. For what it’s worth Medicaid funds almost 50% of all pregnancies. I would hate to see what happens when they discontinue that program.
It is true that a lot of religions oppose abortion, but a lot do not, so I understand that it could be seen as a violation of the separation of church and state, especially if those who belong to no organized religion but say they believe in God are counted.A lot of organized religions support abortion, Unitarians, United Church of Christ, Episcopalians, etc.
I don’t necessarily agree with that. I know several people who aren’t religious at all who say they vehemently oppose abortion. On the other hand, I know every-Sunday Catholics who have had abortions. I think the Catholic Church speaks out against it more than anyone else, though. It may be that some religious institutions are okay with abortion. However, it seems to me that it is exclusively religious institutions (like the Catholic Church) which stand against it.
Please, there are organized groups such as “insert denomination her” for life" atheists for life, physicians for life, and many others. The say opposition to abortion is a “catholic only” this is totally misguided. It may be that some religious institutions are okay with abortion. However, it seems to me that it is exclusively religious institutions (like the Catholic Church) which stand against it.
