How should abortion be stopped?

However, I would like greater emphasis on bettering the condition of those who are born: for instance relieve physical privation and allow all people to live an economically dignified life regardless of their innate talents and abilities and promote an environment of amity not hostility and disdain for those who are born. Furthermore, the aforementioned changes would require an effort to actually raise living standards, not just give people an equal opportunity to do so.

I have to disagree with the attitude that Estesbob’s response conveys.

First it is contrary to what Jesus taught about the value of each person.

Secondly it creates an atmosphere that is counter productive to eliminating abortion.

Making one’s public anti abortion stance so exclusive to the rest of the message of Jesus turns people away from Jesus and towards the very type of thinking that leads to abortion.

If the mother doesn’t have the intrinsic God given value of the unborn child, what does that say about the value of the unborn?

And if we say we really don’t care as much about what happens to the person after they are born, why should the mother or father care either? And if we don’t really care what happens after birth, why should they listen to anything we say about anything?

I am more disgusted at how this all came to be. Somehow, the pro abortion people convinced millions and millions of women that it isnt a baby and its your own choice to have an abortion. Their message was perfectly accepted by so many. Pro life has been playing catch up.

Millions of women have been duped by lies and evil. I hope we can continue to educate woman on what it is they are doing. I believe that once woman know… abortion will become as reviled as it should be.

I am not judging you, I have friends who have had NUMEROUS abortions that still will make excuses. ‘It’ would have ruined my life ect… I think it is hard to reconcile that what they did was murder. Thank God some woman understand what they have done and make their peace with God. That takes alot of inner strength to admit to it… and a great deal of faith in the forgiveness of sins.

God bless you.
Amen, Stjudeprayforus.

I echo all you’ve said here, and said so eloquently.

One thing maybe we also need to keep in mind here is that the title of this thread is “How should abortion be stopped?” not “How should we treat someone who has had an abortion?”

Warning someone considering or advocating abortion that having an abortion is a mortal sin is in fact the charitable thing to do, provided that the truth is spoken in love.

Thanks.

For years the pro abortion people have made it into a woman’s rights issue. That makes me furious. That whole ‘get out of my body’ slogan… gag.

I dont see it as a woman’s right issue at all… if anything I think it has led to the destruction of women Look at how many men just walk out now. The family isnt sacred… everything is a choice. I would rather be treated as my grandfather treated my grandmother. That generation of men had alot more respect for women than do the current generation of men. And… I think a woman saying ‘get out of my body… my body my choice’… hasnt helped.
Maybe if they said that prior to becoming pregnant… we could get back to where woman are treated with respect.
As long as women dont respect themselves by sleeping with whoever they want… stay un educated on what abortion really is… and then justify their actions with ‘women’s rights’… I am afraid abortion will continue.

I do , however, agree with states being able to outlaw abortion if they see fit. If its harder to get… so be it. . we are talking about saving a human being. If a woman is that committed to it… drive across state lines, have a nice long drive to think about what you are doing. If they go through with it… then I pray for their souls.
