Hi
I have a problem with hearing loss, and I just lost more of my hearing the past year.
I am losing my hearing and I am afraid I will become deaf.

It is one of the worst feeling I have ever experienced.
I know being sad/bitter is not what catholicism teaches, but in a situation like that I am struggling to accept my condition.

also, how should I pray for God to preserve my hearing? Can he change his mind and give me my hearing back or at least stop the hearing loss process?

I suggest you look for a specialist doctor as soon as possible. If worse comes to worse, no worries, the doctor can give you a hearing aid.

Of course, you can complain to God and ask for anything. He will answer in a way that is best for you. God can do all things. He may just be trying to get your attention! IMO the best prayer would be ask to be healed and also ask for the ability to accept whatever God permits to happen to you. I will say a prayer for you.

Thank you guys for your (name removed by moderator)uts. It is being so hard. God already have my attention after so many bad things that have happened to me. Now that!
It is not helping me to focus more on God because I already have all my focus on Him. I do not know what’s going on.
I will ask for healing.
Is it enough to ask God, or I need to pray for some Saint?

Have you been to an ear specialist yet to find out what is causing your hearing loss?

Just ask God if He seems not to hear you you can ask a saint to go to Him and plead your case.

I presume you are going to the doctor/specialist and considering hearing aid etc.

I agree with the others about praying. I would suggest asking God for patience and longevity to deal with what he is giving you. Try your very hardest not to feel sorry for yourself. Spend a lot of time praying and thanking God for all the good things in your life. Ask God for the gift of gratitude, especially if you can’t think of any/many. It may help to think of all the people who dont have what you do have. God gave me a chronic illness 9yrs ago and I now treasure it. With it have come a great deal of blessings, hardships too, but certainly blessings. Try to trust in him for he really does give only what is best for us. Suffering is medicine from heaven. You may not like it’s bitter taste or want to take it, but it really is what is good for you and will heal you and make you well enough for heaven. He loves you, so very much. It may be you have to take it for a short time, or a long time, only God can know that, but one thing is for sure, his grace is sufficient for you. He will also never leave you. I hope that it will be a short time for you. I will pray for you. God bless

Sorry to hear this. When we pray the Lord’s prayer, I think"the most sobering line is “Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…”

This may go directly against our wishes and desires. Our wills conflict with God’s. As difficult as it is, we are well advised to desire that His will for us be done, as it is divinely intended to guide us to His Kingdom.

On a personal note, I have faced the end of my life several times. I finally abandoned any and all claim which I thought I had on my life, and handed everything - everything - over to God.

He was waiting for me to trust Him and when I did, He handed my life back to me. My counsel is to let go of your fear and anxiety and turn everything over to God. Hearing or not, He has provided for you each and every moment of your life.
