Getting to know the liturgy and the origin of different prayers, etc., as well as Scripture, makes any Mass more meaningful to me. I encourage people to become very familiar with the Holy Mass. There are some wonderful resourses - books and audio tapes on the Holy Mass, that can help you appreciate our faith all the more!
One priest suggested that we try to attend the next Mass as if it would be our LAST Mass. Cherish each movement and ritual. I go to Mass daily and feel quite empty if I miss a day but I had a powerful experience last Thanksgiving. My daughter came home from college with a new friend from Hong Kong who was completely un-churched, said that she was an athiest because she knew NOTHING of God or religion in her culture. She was the product of the God-less state of communism there. She was an “only child”, of course!
We brought this lovely Chinese girl with us to Mass on Thanksgiving and, for me, it was an incredible experience. Each word, each ritual, each prayer and gesture was so rich and so deeply profound. I felt so grateful for our Catholic faith and its tradition!! I fell more in love with our incredible Catholic church! I wept through most of the Mass as if it were my FIRST Mass and prayed for our new friend to be touched in some way to believe!!
