The moderators actually frown on us giving opinions on each others’ characters/personalities etc. so my question is rhetorical … But in any case, what is truly needed and will help is prayer.
Basically, at work while my boss was out of the office, I went over her head to tell her immediate supervisor that part of the reason why I am treated around the office the way I am and have the reputation I do is … because I am a pro-life Catholic. Yes, I came right out and said it, crystal clear.
I’ve heard that when dealing with bullies, it can actually make it worse to go and tell someone in authority.
That said, I’ve reached my limit.
It’s been hinted at that I’m going to receive a less-than-stellar performance review, and that I may be asked as one of my “objectives” to “document my errors.” Personally, my reaction was to see this as punitive, as singling me out from the others in my office whose errors are overlooked, smiled at, and mildly joked about in e-mail. My boss’s supervisor as of today claims that this “error tracking” will not be held against me in any performance reviews.
I’ve already been walking around telling friends and family for at least a year that I’m afraid I could be fired any day. And when recent layoffs hit my company, I actually was tempted to envy those being laid off, because at least they’d be assured severance pay and an unemployment check. Funny thing, they didn’t lay me off with all the others, so I can’t be as incompetent as some would like to have it appear. I think it’s a matter of someone liking to hold a threat over my head …
I’ve already started looking for a new position at monster.com, so far not finding anything.
Tomorrow I’m scheduled to go on a week’s vacation. Who knows what I’ll be facing when I return home and go to work the following Monday?
Any prayers you can send my way will be Greatly Appreciated.
