No sir. You are the one who made that statement; you are the one who must back it up.

What code, canon or statute does the Church have in place regarding the proper attire for women’s yoga?
Oh no! He or she is going to post Pope Pius XI’s personal letter to a Cardinal in the 1930’s, giving his opinion that there are activities that women shouldn’t participate in like gymnastics, because of the necessary apparel. However, if we are to take something of that form as being “Official Church Teaching”, then anything put out by subsequent Pontiffs in the same manner ( letter, interview, tweet, etc) must carry the same weight, even if we don’t agree with it or it doesn’t fit our own agenda.

OP- if you’re going to post it, make sure the source isn’t from one that is hostile to the current Pope, Vatican ll, or the Mass in Ordinary Form. Links to sites disobedient to the Magesterium or promoting sedevacantism is against forum rules!

Oh, and it is generally considered appropriate nettiquette that when making a claim, YOU provide the source to prove your point, not insist others do it for you.

You do so search and then PM me if you are not able to find a 20th century Pope’s directive on modest dress for women. I don’t have the capacity to spoon feed everyone.
You were the one who made the claim, yet you cannot back it up? The person making the claim is the one responsible for backing it up. If you do a google search, you will see some vague claims, but not real citation of what pope said what and where.

You Are* NOT* her* formation* director*.

End of story.
But what if I have no means of contacting her current director and they would probably ignore me than anything.
My best shot is her previous director.
So just let it go and let her continue in her error? (although it was just due to carelessness from her side)

You’re really determined to insert your nose into their business! Why do you want the blessing of the people here? You want to be a Nosy Parker, go ahead & start interfering.

Thank you Bonnie for your suggestion.

Don’t thank me - you’ve got to own being a Nosy Parker. Don’t be surprised if the sisters don’t thank you for your ever-so-helpful observations.

Thanks again Bonnie. Your feedback is much appreciated.

You missing the point.
You are NOT her formation director

It’s not your place to correct her. That responsibility belongs solely to her formation director.

Didn’t receive it, but if it has to be PM’ed and not posted, I bet it’s from some Rad Trad site posting vile things about the past few Popes, Vatican ll, or the Mass in Ordinary Form, I’m glad I didn’t get it and if I do and it’s from one of those sites, I’m reporting it for promoting disobedience to the Magesterium. I have not one iota of interest in their heretical agenda under the guise of “Tradition”.

Bottom line though, quit trying to police and control what others do. Obviously the Sisters and Superiors don’t have an issue with what is being worn, so why, as laity, do you?

I agree with you in that we have a duty to help our friends spiritually. You are being a good friend. Jesus gave us both the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. But in this statement it seems there is no need to be concerned because you yourself said it was due to carelessness.

Thanks, Johnnyc for understanding where I am coming from.
I am concerned for the reason I mentioned post #8

Add to that it can affect men also negatively.
The immodesty that I noticed in the pic was minimal for any man to feel tempted,
However, If I as a guy feel that my mother/sister/wife/daughter etc…all can show a “little bit” as nuns are also wearing clothes that reveal a “little bit” I might become complacent in correcting my /sister/wife/daughter etc if ever that start dressing immodestly

To correct some one who is doing wrong is a Christian virtue.

In this case, this group is a set of gospel preaching sisters.

If some one who attends their Bible classes/retreats see this pic they could easily think that showing a “little bit” is ok because a sister is also showing a “little bit”.

This way, unfortunately, they are setting a bad example although unintentional.

Imagine one woman who see that picture thinks it is ok to show a “little bit” and starts wearing such clothes how many times she is going to sin in her life?
More importantly, such a woman cause many men to sin over her life time

A dress that reveals cleavage even if it is only a tiny bit especially for Catholic sisters is not modest by the standards of the catholic church and in Fatima Mary said about the introduction of fashions that offends the Lord.
If you are that obsessed with worrying this tiny bit of cleavage is going to cause throngs of men to have impure thoughts or commit impure acts with themselves, just tell this postulant you are friends with that she might want to be careful of the candid pictures she posts, since it might show a bit more skin than the religious order would want out on social media. There. That isn’t hard and it doesn’t make you sound like the modesty police.

Lovely advice I take this on board:thumbsup:

No problem…I knew you were going to take a beating lol. More Traditional minded viewpoints don’t fare to well around here. But I would let it go because we all are careless from time to time without intention.

End of story.
AMEN. This is the one think I will NOT miss about the old CAF.
The dress police, the liturgy police, the music police, the charity police, the church architecture police, etc etc etc :coffeeread:

Imagine I am a woman who dress “a little” immodestly once a week

So in 1 year 52 times, I have sinned

Let’s say I do this for 40 years (Say from age 20 to 60)

So 40*52 = 2080 sins of immodest dress.

Let’s say every time I dressed immodestly and went out to the shopping mall two men sinned (let’s say venially)

So I act as a source of sin on 4160 times during my life time.

Total number of sins of immodesty I committed in my life = 2080 + 5060 = 6240.

what if all these resulted from one pic that I uploaded by a nun in FB which made that I think a "little bit " is ok? I am assuming that I am not properly formed in faith .

I think this is possible

Scenario 2

Imagine I am a woman who dress “a little” immodestly thrice in a week

So in 1 year 52*3 =156 times, I have sinned

Let’s say I do this for 45 years (Say from age 18 to 63)

So 45*156 = 7020 sins of immodest dress.

Let’s say every time I dressed immodestly and went out to the shopping mall 5 men sinned (let’s say sometimes venially and sometimes mortally )

So I act as a source of sin on 7020*5 = 36100 times during my life time.

Total number of sins of immodesty I committed in my life = 7020 + 36100 = 43120 .

what if all these resulted from one pic that I uploaded by a nun in FB which made that I think a "little bit " is ok? I am assuming that I am not properly formed in faith .

I think this is possible

Agreed.

OP, I recall you made a thread on this issue before, and I can remember that the answers given then are not dissimilar to the ones being given now. Perhaps you should consider why that is.

Lou

Lou2 you have great memory, fighting against immodesty and creating an awareness of it especially among people in positions of authority (priests and nuns)
is something which I love
