AMEN. This is the one think I will NOT miss about the old CAF.
The dress police, the liturgy police, the music police, the charity police, the church architecture police, etc etc etc :coffeeread:
Wait…you mean in the new Catholic forum we are not going to be able to talk about the Liturgy, Sacred Music, Charity or the Beauty of Catholic Churches?

Fatima seer Lucia asked Mother Mary whether Francisco would enter heaven and Mary responded he needs to say many rosaries for attaining heaven.

Imagine if that is the case with a 7 seven-year-old boy who is likely to be innocent more or less what would be the fate of all of us
And please read this conjunction with my post 35 and 36.

Lou2 you have great memory, fighting against immodesty and creating an awareness of it especially among people in positions of authority (priests and nuns)
is something which I love
Since it is you who is having the problem, perhaps you should take a look in the mirror. Maybe you need to learn about custody of the eyes. That’s YOUR eyes, not someone else’s. The world cannot be remade to your liking.

Did you read the Polish proverb I posted earlier? Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Concentrate on YOUR circus & YOUR monkeys.

More Traditional minded viewpoints don’t fare to well around here.
I was not aware that sticking ones nose into other people’s business was a “Traditional minded viewpoint.”

Imagine all of the bishops and priests who get aggravated because Johnny Catholic tells them how things are supposed to be!

Thanks Bonnie again for the polish proverb.
That is really cool.

It does smack heavily of despising what one desires, doesn’t it?

Imagine I am a woman who dress “a little” immodestly once a week

So in 1 year 52 times, I have sinned

Let’s say I do this for 40 years (Say from age 20 to 60)

So 40*52 = 2080 sins of immodest dress.

Let’s say every time I dressed immodestly and went out to the shopping mall two men sinned (let’s say venially)

So I act as a source of sin on 4160 times during my life time.

Total number of sins of immodesty I committed in my life = 2080 + 5060 = 6240.

what if all these resulted from one pic that I uploaded by a nun in FB which made that I think a "little bit " is ok? I am assuming that I am not properly formed in faith .

I think this is possible
Sin and salvation is not an algebraic equation.

The word “puritanical” arose as a pejorative due to those whose obsession with avoiding sin turned into unhealthy fanaticism.

Good point lol.

But to be clear Francisco was destined for Heaven, correct?. It wasn’t a question of him going to hell.

You continue to miss the point.

You are not her formation director. Her formation is the holy responsibility of her formation director, not a member of the laity.

I think it was as penance + as a means of purification before entering heaven

I had no idea the new changes at CAF would include the exclusion of the above topics. That will be a refreshing change.

OP, you’re coming across less like you want to “advise a sister” and more like you just want everyone to agree with your opinion. But your opinion is just that.

And you assume that you know better than Priests and Nuns about immodesty? Do you think they are not aware?

Lou

Many modern day sisters definitely are not.
I have one personal experience where a superior of a
Convent thanked me for making her aware of this topic.
She belongs to this same community although in a different country.

Although they used to dress modestly they did not have the knowledge or
Awareness of this topic to impart this virtue to the people they serve.

And this particular superior eventually admitted that she was not having understanding
About the topic of modesty. She is 45 now and her community was formed only
In 60s and most members are less than age 50 I suppose.

Gone are the days in which nuns used to be having knowledge about
topics like modesty. These days a large number of them are poorly formed.

If that is your point, then you should be contacting her formation director, even if you don’t know who they are at present moment.

Easy enough to do. You know which community she is in formation with. Contact them thru proper channels, and find out who the formation director is, then address your concern to her.

You are NOT her formation director and it is the responsibility of her director to correct her. She is in formation after all.

Go thru proper channels

Well the article you posted shows that some orders are indeed well catechized so that’s good!

I think many are missing the point that you are coming at this as a friend and that the spiritual works of mercy are involved.

Some are but many are not. The one I am talking about I very well know that are poorly cathecized .
I know but let’s be positive lol. Brick by brick as Fr. Z puts it. And yes that Nun in the article is right in that laity plays a part but unfortunately a good segment of the laity are not properly catechized for much the same reason…years of improper catechesis.

This thread is an example of how the laity can help. Even though you got a lot of flack someone reading may have learned something about modesty in dress or looked into it more.

I searched ‘modesty virtue Catholic’ and found this good article…
