How to advise a sister?

Can lack of vocations mean removing the requirement of chastity for priest and nuns?
Of course not. It’s simply sad to me you seem to be taking this to an extreme of judging and harassing people in vocations as nuns.

That is not charitable, especially when it’s not your place to do so.

Perhaps Abinjoy could start her own community. Then she could be the boss. 😉

Btw a lot of you seem to think that I am a woman. I am guy btw.:D:D:D

I had fun all of you mistaking me as a woman. Too quick to judge some one?

Not me…I referred to you as abinjoy!:extrahappy:

Nope. At first I thought you were male, but then decided it would be too weird if you were focusing on a religious sister’s cleavage & having the gall to complain about it. So I figured you must be female.

Right the first time, wrong the second.

So why are you focusing on the cleavage of a religious sister? You need to learn how to look away. If you find pictures of sisters disturbing, don’t look at them.

Replace modesty in dress with missing Mass on Sunday. If your friend is discerning and you don’t see them at Mass wouldn’t you approach them to see what was up? Never mind for the discernment process you would be concerned for their souls because willfully missing Mass is a mortal sin right? Abinjoy is getting the flak because modesty in dress has Traditional values connotations. Just look at the comments drifting even to the point of being called a troll.

At least you are in agreement that abinjoy can and should contact the director over such matters. But there is also the concern of a being friend to consider.
No, to be honest, I wouldn’t. Why? Because if they are in the discernment process, they have a vocations or formations director who is guiding them. And it’s nosey.

The laity should stay out of the religious formation of those discerning a vocation

😉

That is my thought, too.

Every single Catholic, you and I included, are called to chastity. Not just priests and nuns.

It’s not entirely clear from your postings is whether she actually is a nun. Nuns are always in habits and are cloistered, which does not appear to be the case here.

Another point is that some congregations of sisters never had habits.

You seem obsessed with this issue but betray a lack of basic understanding of what chastity is, and the difference between a nun and a sister. I would recommend informing yourself before attempting to contact the superior of the community.

Frankly, i would give it a rest.

If you think I am focussing on some one’s cleavage you are completely missing my point.

My real concerns are in post #8 post #30

read those in conjunction with post # 35 post # 36.

If the person is in discernment and living with the community, she will be at mass but probably in the community chapel. Period. Unless of course ill, or perhaps away visiting family, or away on assignment and attending elsewhere. Again it would not be of your concern, but an internal matter. If the postulant has a habit of skipping Mass regularly, she won’t be in discernment very long!!!

Which will also be the case if she spends too much time on Facebook.

Just let the formation process work itself out and all will be well. That is what postulancy and the noviciate are for. It truly is an internal matter.

If it makes you feel better, I was pretty much certain the entire time you were a man.

I don’t know, but I wonder is she has spoken with her own spiritual director about this near obsession of correcting others and stewing over hypothetical “what-ifs” is she doesn’t? Sounds like scruples and obsessive/compulsive kind of thoughts are really disturbing her.
Corrected to reflect the OP’s disclosure on his gender.

This makes it all the more disturbing that you are obsessing on the topic of correcting a Sister who you feel showed a bit of cleavage. Go talk with your own spiritual director and let the Sisters be guided by their** own superiors.

Is Abinjoy trolling us or is she really that self-absorbed & clueless?

Well as abinjoy pointed out the director might be lacking proper catechesis… So I agree with the Franciscan Nun who pointed out that clergy and religious are human and can make mistakes and it is our duty to correct.

But it’s been a great conversation and I’m glad abinjoy brought the topic to the forefront. No telling how many are looking into the virtue of modesty issue because of it.

And no telling how many people are now looking online to see which religious order is so poorly catechized that the OP came onto a forum to essentially gossip about it and its members  Way too much identifying info has been given on this thread and I hope this thread is pulled before more damage is done to the order’s reputation under the guise of “trying to advise” in an area the OP has absolutely no business.
