In Matthew 15:24, we read "He said in reply, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” By quoting this Bible verse they argue that Jesus was sent only to Israel not for the whole world. How can we answer this?

To the Jews at the time Israel WAS {is} the “entire world” as everyone else was NOT among God’s chosen people {Exo. 6:7} and therefore “unworthy”

So in this teaching the term “Israel” is a metaphorical expression.

Thanks for asking,

By quoting the rest where she says even dogs ger scraps and he says her faith is well founded and heals her daughter.

But then he also spoke with the Samaritan woman and pretty much converted her.

Show them Matthew 28:19-20, which says " Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…"

This would be a perfect opportunity for Jesus to tell His disciples to only preach to the jews, but here Jesus says that He wants jews and gentiles to be evangelized.

Jesus’ ministry was primarily to Israel .

But after his resurrection and exaltation Jesus made it clear to his disciples that they were to minister to the whole world .

At Pentecost the ministry of the disciples of Jesus to all nations was able to begin .

Interesting, were you having a face to face or similar discussion with some one, or was this a doctrinal statement you ran across.

Jesus figures highly in Islam, they believe in the virgin birth and Jesus plays a part in their end time narrative. He’s considered a precursor to Mohammed and has miracles attributed to him. They deny any divinity but in some traditions he was taken to heaven directly by God. So I’m not sure why there would be some assertion that he only applied to the Jews.

They believe this at their own disadvantage. Frankly a really informed Muslim would not use this plain and errorneous argument because one just needs to read further into the Gospel to know that Jesus message is for the whole world.

The Muslims I know have a very deep respect for Jesus and a very deep respect for Mary. I’ve honestly never heard a Muslim make that claim.

With all due respect, Muslims are very rigid about their positions and so it’s impossible to answer the title question, how to answer islam. They are very intolerant of others’ beliefs.

I pray for the gifts of the holy Spirit, inasmuch as no one comes to Jesus except that the Father calls them . Lord save the Muslims, send your spirit.

I’ve face this argument when Muslims have decided to debate me numerous times, this verse sans Jesus’s earthly ministry was only to the Jews, which was true. But he later delagated authority to the Apostles to preach to all nations Gentiles included, in Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:14.

Roman 1: 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first, and then Greek.17 For in it is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith; as it is written, “The one who is righteous by faith will live.”

Matthew 19:30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

In this Parable (all scholars agree this is an original of Jesus true words and teachings) of God’s Vineyard, answers the question and with a full illustration

Matthew 20;1 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’ 5 So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. 6 about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’ 8 when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.’ 9 And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. 10 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. 11 And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, 12 saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’ 13 But he replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you. 15 Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?’16 So the last will be first, and the first last.”
