How to approach my crunchy neighbor with a problem?

Better yet bill her for “waste removal”. LOL 😃
 
Get some little signs and put them here and there on your lawn that state:

LAWN TREATED WITH CHEMICALS
TOXIC.
KEEP OFF THE GRASS.

And just leave them there for awhile. If, when the signs are down, the pooping resumes, put them back up.

If she’s that crunchy, you can be sure she’s not going to risk her precious pooch coming in contact with chemicals, which he’ll carry back into her home, so she’ll likely just avoid your lawn.
 
If the dog’s business is natural then the neighbor will have no problem with that business being re-deposited back on to her property. And if some happens to be flung onto the side of the house, or through an open window oh well, sorry. Maybe next time keep your nature in your own yard and we won’t have these problems. Love ya, have a great all natural granola munching crunchy day.

Rats eat dog waste - it is a literal doggie buffet for them. Rats DO spread disease, and can be extremely dangerous if they are rabid.

This is a neighborhood health hazard, in addition to being down right rude.

I live next to a neighbor who never cleans up after his dog, and when I call the police he makes my life miserable. (Please God, help the housing market so we may move soon!!!) I have had verbally abusive altercations with this man, and I don’t choose to go there again, so we put up and deal with it. Fortunately we don’t have poo on our yard, but he just gets great joy when the dog comes over to wizz on my tree. :rolleyes:

He’s far from crunchy, he’s just a bully. Your situation is slightly different. I would absolutely call the county and see if they have anything you can go on officially to get this person to stop after you have spoken with them and if there is still a problem.

Your kids don’t need rats around them, on top of the just plain nastiness about the poo. :mad:

Had the same problem until I made a sign and put it in front yard.

HERE LIES THE REMAINS OF THE LAST DOG THAT POOPED IN MY YARD.

No more problems

Well, that would explain our rat problem then. 😦

Our neighbors have 6 or 7 dogs, all in the backyard, though some of them escape almost daily. Their backyard’s grass is over 3 feet tall. In other words, the people are not too worried about cleanliness.

We had two rats in our attic last winter, one the winter before, and just yesterday DH found a dead rat by our driveway. It’s only become a problem since they’ve gotten so many dogs (none are spayed or neutered) - they used to just own 3, and now it’s doubled.

The only GOOD thing is that the neighbors also have about 12 unspayed/unneutered “neighborhood” CATS, who happily kill the rats.

Oh, and did I mention that they don’t have trash service either? It just “collects” in places - inside, outside, front porch, back porch, etc. , then the guy loads it up in his truck about once every 4 weeks and takes it off to dump it…somewhere.

Oh no - that’s just HORRIBLE!!! Can’t your city do anything about them?? The cats can be as dangerous as the rats if there is rabies going around - I would be EXTREMELY careful with the children.

You are living next to a health hazard that is totally unacceptable - I would call anyone who would listen to get that fixed.

why??? Don’t birds poop on your car, and squirrels, and chipmunks in your yard, or do we just want to elliminate all non-human animals from cities… the poop will go away when it rains. It’s TRUE! The dogs here are like outside cats. The people just let them roam during the day… And 3 or 4dogs will get together , and honestlly I am not joking, you can see each dog coming from a different direction, and they meet at a certain time. And hang out, having a dog party. They may copulate (which I must admit is quite unsightly) Ya think? :cool: but in almost 2 years, I have NEVER seen 1 dog or cat fight, NEVER. Oh, please. Just cuz you don’t hear them, does not mean they don’t happen. Trust me. When I pointed it out to my husband he thought I was crazy, but after being here almost 2 years, he had to admit that it is true. I think it is because the dogs aren’t all fenced up. Dogs are pack animals, so they enjoy hanging around with other dogs, so they are WAY happier… and don’t bark as much either.🤷 Uh, sure. Truly trained domesticated dogs have their human family as their pack. Packs of dogs can quickly get out of control and attack people, kids, animals, etc.

So the kids step in poop, then they wash their shoes off with a hose. What is the big deal? Well, smell, parasites, and then general yuck factor. Dog poop does not smell very good. Kid’s shoes usually have little ridges on the bottom and it is hard to get it out. Gross. Didn’t that happen to you when you were little? Not often. And how young are the kids to be playing outside unsupervised? You don’t have kids, do you? They can move very quickly. If they are young enough not to know not to pick up poop, then they shouldn’t be by themselves in the front yard without a fence? They’ll run in the street and get run over! But stepping in dog poop is OK:whacky: ?

By the way, they did a study, and the reason why kids in cities have a higher incidence of athsma than rural kids, isn’t because of the pollution, but actually because of the lack of parasites. Uh, wrong. Parasites are NEVER good. Roundworms, tapeworms…

Honestly, you should try the “Live and let live” approach. It is WAY less stressful. Neighbors’ dogs can poop in their own yard, and I’ll keep mine pooping in my yard. That is way less stressful for everyone.

From what you’ve described, I’m glad I don’t live in Asia! Gross.

Cholera cases are almost non-existent in the US.
Cholera is caused by people poop, not dog poop.
In Malaysia, where I live, there has been one recent outbreak of cholera, in 2007. This was in the jungle of East Malaysia, where 90 people were infected, and only one died…in the jungle, not US suburbia.

No one you know is going to die of cholera any time soon. Even if your poor neighbor’s dog poops in your yard.

hmmmmmm…

There are millions of rats in this town, I’ll give you that. Maybe that’s why I don’t really see the dog poop ???
 
If she is really that “crunchy” maybe this would work:

Tell her you will be treating your yard periodically & the product contains chemicals that are very harmful to pets, & you would hate to see her dog get sick or to get the chemicals in its paws and then drag the chemicals into her own house, so please keep away from your yard.

Then buy some of the dog repellent yard granules/spray at your local pet store and use it.

ecp, if you admit that human poop spreads disease, then you have to acknowledge that animal poop does too. You just vitiated your own argument.

I don’t care if hookworms do prevent asthma, there is no way in Hades I am purposely exposing my children to parasites! I mean, why not start marketing tapeworm implants instead of lap-band or gastric bypass surgery? It’s natural!

Arsenic is natural. It’ll kill ya quick. Menstrual cramps are natural. Hand me the Tylenol.

Natural does not equal good.
 
Which reminds me of a story my friend told me.
She was in her house one day when she heard noises in her back yard. Her neighboor had gotten into her back yard to let her dog go potty there. She confronted her and her excuse was that her dog had ran away into her back yard (a fenced backyard, with a gate, and if somehow the dog did manage to get it, why was she leisurely hanging out there waiting for the dog to go potty??)

I told her, instead of confronting her, she should have locked the gate and then called the police and told them there was an intruder in her back yard. :eek:

Now that’s funny! 😃 There’s really nothing wrong with Mother Earth News or being crunchy for that matter, I lean that way myself to a certain point 😃 I do scoop my doggies poo in public places, though 👍

I’ll second this one. After numerous polite conversations it took about a week of this with our neighbor and the problem was solved.
