I was talking to a woman at work. I asked her if she was religious (our relationship is such that it was safe to ask this question). It was the classic story that she was brought up Catholic, was educated by nuns (that she was quick to point out were mean but come to think of it, I think she is from the generation where all teachers probably were mean because of the time but that is a different post) and then said 'and after all the sex scandals came out, it was the last straw and she left the church.
It is a common story and I know that most of the classic arguments such as ‘what they did was wrong and you should forgive them’ would be a waste of words. So it got me thinking, what should one say to them that would not make them roll their eyes?
Thoughts ?
