It seems that my daughter, who is no longer Catholic, has just found out that GOD really does exist. She now wants me to go to her church, attend her bible study, etc. She wants to save my soul. I tell her that I have always known that God exists but she says that I don’t really understand. When I go to visit, she has bible quotes all over her walls. She was brought up as a Catholic, attended Catholic classes, received the sacraments, etc. I don’t understand why she did not believe what she heard in her religious classes and and all of a sudden she is a modern day St Paul – although she did not get hit in the head like St Paul did.

She is married with 3 children and they all are in the same situation. I feel separated from them. The only time I see them is when I go to bible study with her and the family. We used to be close and now they are too busy praying to come over.

Like your husband, she has no room in her life for anything but God. I don’t kow what to do except accept her decisions and try to stay as close as she will allow. I love this family very much and don’t want to lose their relationship.

There is a difference between knowing about God and knowing God. It sounds like your daughter made that transition. Any “religion” is man’s best attempt to reach God, while Christianity is God’s best attempt to reach man. Jesus paid the price we could not. That is the Good News!

I do not think the problem is your daughter has no room for anything but God, since the indwelling of the Holy Ghost is a generous gift and your daughter should want to share this. Her desire to have God is not what is bad but her desire to have you accept her idea of God is. Do not misunderstand me, her desire to find God should be shared but her belief that you should sacrifice your Faith, which you have no problems with, to accept a new version hook, line and sinker is not only inconsiderate but also unrealistic.

While her accepting of this new false protestant religion is unfortunate, it does show that her heart hungered with a void only God can fill. In time, if you continue to share your Faith life with her and try to be open rather the rigid as she appears to be, her heart will realize her error and she shall accept the Faith once again. In all things, charity.😉
