Lol, I think women should be able to vote. I wouldn’t want to be a woman in a country under Muslim control, for instance. What if I were Muslim/Protestant, etc. wanted to change religions (ie Catholic)? Without a vote or a possible means to support oneself outside being a dependent (father/husband) it would be extremely diffficult to to do so. Without that vote, women are under the mercy of whomever they are under power at that given time.

The thing about American and its freedom is that it DOES give hope to those who come to live here to fulfill their ‘dream’. Now, personally I think rightly ordered, this ‘dream’ would be to do God’s will.

Let’s have more hope for women who make better choices!!!
 
I’m actually from Australia, women got the vote here before we did in the US 😊

So where do you sit on women having equal rights?
 
Yes. But we’ve been automating jobs for millennia. You still need someone to install and fix the machines.

Yes, I know women who are moving into that field 😊 it doesn’t rely on physical differences as much as the old brute strength approach.

It’s honestly a good thing. This kind of equality meant that my family was fine when my dad couldn’t work due to injury as we had my mum’s pay. And my husband didn’t need to let his tooth rot in his head because he couldn’t afford the dentist; I just gave him money for it.

And the more we automate the physically taxing jobs the more equality we achieve. Now we need to work on how to reorder the work industry to account for fewer unskilled labour jobs.

When I read your posts I am reminded that this is the Internet and posters can pretty much say anything without regard for what is true and what isn’t.

And re. your dismissal of criminal police behaviour which has been happening one shooting of an unarmed person after another is proof of that. Now they are overlapping. Brooklyn NY & at the beginning of the week another innocent father of three young children in a car in California.

Black people are AFRAID to walk out of their doors or walk in their grandmother’s back garden or put their child to sleep in their own bed (as happened to the 8 yr old girl shot to death by police in her bed).

Nothing I could list would make you understand me. So why in the name of the Gospel Truth would I want to open up here & list painful incidents of racism in my life to you. You clearly lack the most basic human empathy. Why in the name of everything that is sacred are you even on a Catholic site. Have you read the teachings of Jesus Christ?

The teachings of Jesus Christ don’t revolve around undermining civil authority or offloading responsibility for one’s own failures onto others.

Black on black crime and aggression is a far bigger problem than white on black, or blue on black.

You complained about others posting divisive ideas in this thread, yet your posts are far more divisive. You just hit all the right politically correct notes, and are playing / preying upon feelings of guilt and shame for past sins.

When speaking of the Crusades, for example, you forgot to mention that approximately a million Europeans had been enslaved by Muslim pirates plying the waters of the Mediterranean for centuries before the Crusades were even thought about as a defensive response. You also forgot to speak about the dhimmi status of Christians and Jews in Muslim controlled lands.
 
So of course this thread has turned into a weird subtly sexist and racist thread. Of course. What do we expect when we whine about how society is bad now…? People to blame themselves?
 
Sorry I was basing the my answer on the comments, I thought it was just another one of ‘those’ articles that blame women for everything. Don’t be too harsh on me! I’ve had a creepy guy in my church parish give me articles on basically how all women outside of the house are evil… and another parishoner asking me about ‘how good are you at doing dishes’ ?

Uhh hmmm and you wonder sometimes why young people are not stepping into church. It’s either the ultra conservatives or the everything goes liberals.

As for Western Civilization, more people need to be landowners (and have an inheritance mindset), and women do need to submit to men in matters in certain matters.
