How to End Intergenerational Curses

Say one has an ancestor who was a psychic and may have had some rather evil things going on, and long story short it seems there may be an intergenerational curse or something of the sort on his descendents.
What to do?
 
This is contrary to our Catholic Faith.

We inherit one sin, original sin, the sin of Adam. This is wiped away at baptism.

After that, we are responsible for our own personal sins.

Remember, “no weapon formed against you shall prosper” as long as you remain in friendship with God.
 
I think there indeed can be multi-generational spiritual oppression.

Even if it cannot be transmitted genetically, by what a father does to his child, etc. this sort of thing can be perpetuated.

What if one does not appear to be in friendship with God? Of course we do not know the inner workings of others’ hearts and judging where people are at is wrong, but if this is the case then what should we do?
 
Most members here would find it hard to believe in such a thing as a curse being passed down from one generation to another, much less know how to end it. I’m not sure about the topic myself.

Are you also making some reference to the scripture passages about the punishment for the sins of the father being passed down to the sons, etc.?

Some things are not just sins.
We do things that have real effects in the world.
Some things allow the demonic to manifest. Who can deny that this can affect a family?
 
There’s a HUGE difference between raising your offspring and them suffering from your failings versus claiming that Generational Curses are haunting you or your posterity.

I have heard from a reputable exorcist that it is possible, for example, for a father or a mother, to pronounce a curse upon a child that is not without effect.

Anyways, I’m curious why you should ask this question. Generally, a life of personal holiness should suffice to supercede any curse such as that mentioned above.
 
To be sure, funkytown. Most people here would not believe in such a thing as a curse of any kind here. It’s really not a question for the forum. in my opinion. Most people are just going to respond to such a question with incredulity.
 
Thank you, the one I am talking about reputable was not liked by his father who may have dabbled in the occult.

But, of course, if a single action in this world can have a variety of effects, why would this exclude the spiritual? Of course, we are NOT accountable for sins of our father. But to imply they don’t affect us at all just seems crazy.

Well, sin has repercussion down through the ages. There is a catechism passage on this that I remember reading, but that’s not exactly the same thing as a “generational curse”.
