I am reminded of a section of letter #6 of the Screwtape Letters in which the senior devil guiding a younger tempter discusses the relative importance of theoretical and practical venues for hatred and charity in their intended human prey (aka the “patient”):That’s why it’s a good thing I’m not in charge.
…*.As regards his more general attitude to the war, you must not rely too much on those feelings of hatred which the humans are so fond of discussing in Christian, or anti-Christian, periodicals. In his anguish, the patient can, of course, be encouraged to revenge himself by some vindictive feelings directed towards the German leaders, and that is good so far as it goes. But it is usually a sort of melodramatic or mythical hatred directed against imaginary scapegoats. I know what you meant, but prayer is action. It’s not a theoretical exercise. It has real effects.

It’s important for this to be as visible as possible and it’s disgraceful that the letter hasn’t attracted more media attention. ISIS directly violates nearly every teaching of Islam, as the letter articulately points out. Muslims who may be on the fence about joining them could be swayed against it by seeing this.

I actually kind of believe that.
I think the best solution to the ISIS problem and the Middle East in general would be for western nations to fund the Kurds, Syrians, Israelis etc and take a step back and allow the inhabitants of the region to sort it out amongst themselves. The US/British interference in the region has led to nothing but trouble.

Given the physical shape of a soldier vs that of children and elderly, mixed with the fact that in those areas the soldiers are typically well nutritioned vs the poppulace they steal from, most likely the number of innocents killed would outweigh the soldiers…Well that would be a war crime. How do you know it wouldn’t kill more innocent people than ISIS soldiers?

I personally think that there is no solution to winning this war, because groups over in the middle east have been fighting on and off over the course of hundreds of years, with terrorism
