A question…Long ago I took a college course on the Origins of Christianity. There were a few Protestants in the class, & every time the prof would bring up something that they considered unBiblical, the classroom got a bit heated. Has his prof made a list of sources he can’t use…?
I remember we were required to do a paper - can’t remember the topic(s), but one thing I do remember: the prof had a list of sources that we were not allowed to use as these were considered biased & were unacceptable…which was interesting because he stated that he’d originally come from an atheist family, & he had converted later (He never stated to what faith/denomination in particular, but I suspected it was Catholic - He used the Jerusalem Bible in his course, & I got the feeling that he was the only non-atheist at home - which displeased his dad).
I mentioned this because I can imagine that nowadays just about anything with an opposing viewpoint would send up red flags to the prof. I understand that many colleges/unis are hostile to people of faith anymore. This may or not apply at his current university though…It’s sad when Catholic colleges/unis promote things contrary to Church Teaching, & rather than build up the faith of their students & edify the Church, they work to destroy faith & bring down the Church.
I know that as a counter to The God Delusion, David Belinski wrote The Devil’s Delusion. He is very, very critical of other atheists. He is Jewish - an atheist, but he strongly disagrees with the positions of some in academia…& he’s not particularly gentle about it either.
@Lara had mentioned C.S. Lewis & G.K. Chesterson.
@TheLittleLady had mentioned https://strangenotions.com.
I know he’s Evangelical, but before entering the Church, I used to read Ravi Zacharias’ books: Can Man Live without God? & Jesus among Other Gods…Jesus Talks with Buddha …I appreciated his approach to reaching out to atheists in academia. He used to be an atheist himself - even attempted suicide in his teens, but turned to Christ. He speaks at universities & churches around the world.
