Remember that I was a believer, who was investigating.Also, I’m sure you have, but have you asked God to make himself known to you? That’s an important step.
The gospels are human stories, and they do not speak for God. It is nice (or would be nice) if God would not give up on me. I am here. Ready to listen. But I can only understand human words, uttered in the range that my ear can hear, and in the form I am able to comprehend. Much as I might respect you, or other apologists, neither one of you speaks for God, either in words, or in actions. Only God is qualified to speak for himself.OK. I doubt you have a hardened heart. I don’t know how you could read the gospels and not believe Jesus’ words, but I hope you won’t give up. I’m sure God hasn’t given up on you.
