How to take a stand on illegal immigration?

I watch the daily news these days and I look with alarm at the future.
The people loose their jobs by the tenths of thousands.
And the prognoses are worst for the future.
I can not imagine how in the future the huge army of unemployed people will live without livelihood in the poor countries and how the people will provide for the families .
I do not talk about the disabled or more elder people , I mean the families , the young people who are forced to be expelled from the works and factories by millions.
I think that the excessive economic and social inequalities are the life realities , the simple workers in poor countries will never get those kinds of luxuries as really rich people enjoy , no matter how hard the simple workers work , but if they do not have the jobs at least for the living , that’s already a danger which threatens to the life’s equilibrium and the danger to fall in despair.
Some times these kinds of people even by the risk of their lives are trying to get abroad illegally and to find some temporary job in order to support the families.
I do not justify the illegal immigration.
But I think that before these kinds of people are ‘’ illegal criminals without visas’’ – they are the ‘’ human beings’’ who deserve our understanding , compassion and even the hand of help.

So children should be punished for their parents’ illegal actions and not be educated?
You prefer that Americans be punished for what Mexicans do. I’ll let the homeless Americans who are on the streets of Chicago tonight know this. The weather here is 15 degrees and snowy.

But,they and they’re families must go without so Mexicans who have absolutely no right to these benefits receive them to make you feel better about yourself.

American families should be fed first before any Mexican children even set foot in a school. Americans should not be denied their right to food, employment, education, and healthcare just to satisfy someone’s desire to show Latin America preferential treatment.

illegal immigration, is what it is, illegal. If a illigal immigrant comes into the country is caught, he should be deported. I honestly am for the shoot policy. Where if they cross the border after a warning shot and are told of the punishment for jumping the border, they can be shot. Brutal yes, but effective. I gurantee you, no one is gonna jump the border when a rifleman is on the other side that will shoot them down.

It’s not complicated to take a Catholic stand on this. We just have to look at the greatest commandments of all:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

And let’s look at who Jesus says our neighbor is: You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:43)

Seems like many supposedly devote Catholics in this forum are forgetting Our Lord’s words. Looks like only Americans and legal immigrants qualify as a our neighbors. Please go back to your CCD 101 classes and start loving and helping, and stop the hate.

“I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.” Source: JESUS, Son of the Father, Our God.
That’s fine! Then give them YOUR food, YOUR clothing, YOUR job, YOUR home, and YOUR children’s future. Americans have already sacrificed too much. The free ride must end.

I have no problem with immigration from ALL countries around the world. But what has been happening here for the last 20 or 30 years is hardly fair to the countries around the world. Americans don’t owe a thing to Latin America. We have been supporting them for years and now it’s time to break those chains. Charity begins at home.

Americans have sacrificed too much? Have we? With our plasma TVs, High def, iPods, SUVs, McMansions, A/C and heat … Wow … that is really a sacrifice! If you are an uncharitable person, that’s your deal, but that is not Catholic teaching. Christ say Love your neighbor, he did not mention your American neighbor first. That is why I love my Catholic Church, it’s truly Universal, not a local, one. It is Universal, as Our Lord is, and WE were created ALL, not only Americans, in His image and likeness.

Stop hating, start loving, as Jesus did.

The American government must begin to respect the rights of American citizens before the needs of other are even considered. Too many of our politicians have shown their contempt for the average American by playing along with those whose cultures seek to destroy ours.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

I wish I had half of the stuff you mentioned. I’ve been driving a 20 year old vehicle and watching Mexicans buy brand new SUV’s.
WHERE DO THEY GET THE MONEY?

Someone said “the TRUTH will set you free”. I don’t think America is ready for how much money has been removed from this country and shipped south of the border.

Jesus didn’t have to deal with a culture trying to invade his homeland!

Jesus spoke about caring for the poor and modeled that behavior himself. He went so far as to say that by showing kindness to the needy we are showing it to Christ himself! “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matthew 25:35

In Hebrews we are told that angels will approach us for help and by helping strangers we could be showing hospitality to angels Heb 13:2 “Stop neglecting to show hospitality to strangers, for by showing hospitality some have had angels as their guests without being aware of it.”

Jesus Christ modeled a life and ministry of compassion to the poor. He mingled with them (Luke 5:1-11), ate with them (Luke 5:27-32), comforted them (Luke 12:22-34), fed them (Luke 9:10-17), healed them (Luke 5:12-16), and ministered to them (Luke 7:18-23).

Last time I checked, the Hebrews were an oppressed nation under the Roman Empire, and Jesus was one of them. The USA is the new Rome. Looks like you would have neglected Jesus brothers just because he would have not shared our passport.

Start loving, stop hating, as Jesus did.

What does any of that have to do with Mexicans stealing our country from us?

So, you agree?

I was on a message board several months ago and a Mexican on the other end kept advising people to just learn Spanish and everything would be OK.

I replied that all it would take is one American suicide bomber at an immigration rally and they would think twice before ever holding another one.

The guy went ballistic on me. Calling my mother all different kinds of names. He knew I spoke the truth. We still have the nuclear weapons to turn Mexico into an ashtray. After that, no fence would be needed.

Are you crazy? I support shooting Mexicans that try to jump the border, not killing them cause they exist.

Here is this thread, lost it! I’ll admit this is a tough topic.

First, I don’t think companies should be able to hire illegals for less than legal min wage and should have to pay all taxes, insurance, etc. That levels the field for local residents also. We should not take advantage of illegal immigrants.

To the argument, if we did not have the illegal immigrants then there would be about 5M more jobs unfilled. Americans do not want to do these jobs, so yes the unemployment would go up. It is nice to immigrate here (we are all immigrants) and build the walls. We would rather send “aid” to poor people in Mexico but cannot allow them to come here to make an honest living to support their families. WE have around 10M illegal immigrants, the system has broken down and long ago we realized we could not box up 10M people and ship them back, search Operation *******. We need to come to reality they are here and deal with it.

I think you are talking about Swift meat packing. They got the message. They sold many of the processing plants to a company in Brazil. ttp://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2007/05/29/swiftsale/
Similar for Tyson, closing in the states and moving production outside the country.

Past examples of immigration laws, hindsight they look pretty bad.
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882
What about Operation *******
I’m trying to understand how you can claim that having more people compete for existing jobs lessens rather than increases unemployment. I recall a situation in Colorado a few years ago where a processing plant was raided and roughly 130 illegals were removed. Within a week there were 500 applications from citizens looking for those same jobs. The aspect of this discussion that offends me the most is that typically there is no consideration whatever given to the rights of the people living in the communities affected by illegals.Ender

I’m not concerned about Mexicans who actually want to become Americans. That IS immigration. I’m concerned with Mexicans taking over neighborhoods and converting them to their culture where you can’t get a job unless you speak Spanish.

I live in a neighborhood that has been virtually taken over by them. The American culture has almost vanished here and gangs roam the streets. The public schools are 92-96% Mexican. The Catholic Charities are almost all Hispanic so anyone else has trouble getting aid.

Do you understand what I’m getting at. This is a serious problem that may eventually require extraordinary measures to correct. I have gangs on my front porch almost every night. When I call the police, all they do is tell them to move. They come back the next night, so calling the police solves nothing.

What would your solution be?

Those are artificial answers. You must remember, these people are NOT are allies like Canada. They are looking out for themselves. They want to gut the United States and ship everything south of the border. They have been doing that for years.

If you allow it to continue, your children had better learn Spanish because the municipalities over here require that people looking for employment speak Spanish. When everywhere you look, signs are in Spanish, you know they don’t want you in THEIR neighborhoods.

Do you have any evidence to support the idea that money spent on primary schooling for children of illegal immigrants has led to any increase in homelessless in Chicago? Thanks.

Oh your talking about inside America. Do not nuke them, cause then your nuking your own country, thats idiotic.

I would probably move, I can’t live in the city limits of a city or I get nightmares and can’t sleep. I have to have cows near me, and have to at least have 3 miles of no man’s land.

I would say tell the authorities that they either move the gang permanently or I shoot them.
