In most Communion sets there are subtle differences, usually the number of stripes incorporated into the embroidery. I’ll see if I can find a picture.
Right, generally when there was a distinguishable difference between a dalmatic and a tunicle, the dalmatic had two stripes and the tunicle had one. It was often the case that the dalmatic also had more embroidery. In most Communion sets there are subtle differences, usually the number of stripes incorporated into the embroidery. Wonderful!
Midnight Mass at Holy Innocents at Midnight!
Pre music program followed by procession and blessing of the Nativity manger creche scene. Proclamation of the Nativity sung in Latin followed by Mass as usual. Superb homily on the word made flesh that dwelt among us. Sumptuous festive Reception afterwards with news of a birth!
Hours later in the morning I served two Masses at two different churches. The first Mass was the Mass at Dawn. Though it was sung Mass It was just me serving alongside the MC. Other servers were on vacation and/or physically impeded with arms in cast. At the second Mass it was the Mass during the Day with myself acting as MC.
At all these Masses I was humbled by the true meaning of Christmas and was dearly privileged to welcome the Christ Child in the Eucharist.
According to that article, unless your son is an instituted acolyte (instituted by the bishop, not just an altar server), he shouldn’t be a “straw subdeacon” at all.Well yes, but that is what a straw-subdeacon is, a non-ordained man filling in the position. And though they are only used in the EF Mass, I could not help but consider their use in the OF as well. Since the position has aleays been the exception rather than the norm, I would not see it as a serious liturgical abuse if use in such a Mass as one done at Christmas, just one that has some precedent with roots in the EF, and leave it at that. But that is my take on it.
