Mormons want to be called another name.
Ah. I see. I remember when I was Mormon back in the late 80’s and 90’s they went down this road of trying to distance themselves from the “Mormon” nickname. It never really stuck, at least with non-members.

They must be trying it again, trying to distance themselves from the nickname.
They certainly can’t force anyone not to use it, but they can encourage others to address them differently.

So…those members of your faith who are quoted teaching “Jesus and Lucifer are brothers” are anti’s?

Or I’m an anti for it posting here?

Isn’t the Ensign a legit LDS publication?

I don’t understand the connection between official LDS teaching on a subject and “someone” saying Catholics are cannibals?

When I am able to get to my storage (in Utah where I no longer live) I will post it.

I downloaded the whole manual.

Are you still LDS?

Huh? I think you are confusing me with someone else.
I am a former Mormon. Catholic now.
Mormon theology does teach that Jesus and Satan are brothers. I think your reply was meant for someone else, and you have confused me for them.

No I don’t remember, but it was from about three years ago.
Were you in young women’s 3-4 years ago?

That other post was for TOm.

It teaches that women who do not marry will become servants in the next life.
I would not be surprised. Brigham Young taught that those who don’t practice plural marriage would also be servants. And darkies could never be anything but servants. Mormon doctrine changes a bit here and there so it’s hard to say what they believe at any given time.

Careful- if you dare to quote “his” teachings you will be called an anti too Lol

That’s why I have files upon files of downloaded copies of official LDS teachings. I knew they were going to someday claim “we never taught that!”

So you have downloaded it? Can you share it, I would love to be able to read it. It may take me awhile otherwise to track it down.

I don’t mind if they call me anti. I basically am. I have tried to save my kids from Mormonism and only have one left. He was just sealed to his wife in the Houston temple a few weeks ago so I’ve got some work ahead of me. The others are all out.

I would say this manual was reflecting the sign of the times. Young LDS were starting to reject young marriage and dating was on the decline.

Didn’t need to convince young LDS women to marry back then.

Unfortunately, I downloaded it to copy only. Maybe I’m using the wrong word.

I believe that. I do, vaguely, remember the idea that the teaching went something like, “if a woman, thru no fault of her own, never had the opportunity to marriage a worthy priesthood holder” would have the opportunity to be sealed to one in the next life.

That being said, IF she did have opportunity to marry a worthy priesthood holder in this life, and didnt’, then yes, she would become a servant.

The same with the guys. That if a worthy priesthood holder, thru no fault of his own (say he was very ill, or died young etc) didnt marry in this life, he would in the next.

Of course Mormons are also millennialists. They believe that a lot of these kinds of questions will all be sorted in the next life, or during the millennium

Wow-you are in the trenches!!

I was fighting an uphill battle for 30 years but thanks be to God all of my children have remained Catholic.

The lack of boundaries and respect for our Catholic faith by Utah Mormons is what brings me here. Fight fire with fire (and love and charity I must remember).

Keep up the good work!!

I think you may be right, with what was in the manual reflecting the culture of dating these days. I expect that SLC is concerned that many are waiting longer and longer to get married. They may be seeing a decline in temple sealing rates, so “pressure” is being put on to “remember, you have to get married and if you choose not to when you had the chance…” then “remind” them of the consequences

I can believe that

Well, I was responsible for getting them in so I have to do my best to correct the damage I did. I was pretty strict with my kids. We faithfully had daily family prayer and scripture study and weekly FHE. I regularly bore my testimony to them. We never skipped church even if we were camping somewhere on vacation. We were strict about the Sabbath Day. My kids went to early morning seminary and I even taught a couple of them. I was dye in the wool Mormon. I pray that God will be merciful. I was doing what I thought was right at the time.

Yep. Admittedly that’s a difficult one for me. It’s hard to feel charitable towards a cult that does so much damage to people.
Yep. That is hard. Praying for one’s enemies I think is one of the hardest commands of Christ to follow. The Sermon on the Mount is very demanding.

I will pray for you, Lemuel. It’s got to be brutally hard.
