Please be patient and pray for him. The Lord will not let you down.
Thank you I really needed to hear that.
Well if it is indeed almost all that you care about, think about, and talk about (“worth” about?)…I would be concerned if I were he, too. Especially if you seemed depressed before. He may be worried you are overdoing it.
.
“Worth” I meant to write worry meaning concerned about.
I think I am more attentive now to the kids and the household. But, I realize, I need to show him more.
As ThyKingdomCome mentioned, your husband is your vocation. You are not a consecrated religious and your concerns must be different to theirs. In short, God cannot be all you care about.
As a husband, I’d become frustrated if my wife only wanted to talk about one particular thing, whether that one thing was religion, the children, sports, how wonderful a husband I am, or whatever.
I agree, my birthday is the feast day of St. Francis of Rome. In reading about her life I have understood my husband is another way to show love to God. I love married life. I can carry a conversation about other topics but it’s exciting to me to talk about what I’m learning. It’s not all abstract God talk but a variety of topics; raising pure children, purgatory, the life of a saint, an encyclical, pain & suffering, but to him it’s all, “GOD talk” as he puts it.
And the problem is ? He is one lucky man,a lot of stay at home people get glued to nonsense T V soaps, or talk shows, or go shopping with money they don’t have,
If your going to be hooked on something then your faith is a good thing to get hooked on,
And if it brings you two closer as a couple then all the better,
All you need to do now is enjoy life together as a family,
Isn’t it weird that the years I spent away from the Church and wasting time on day time TV, politics and watching reality shows, there was no complaining? That really was when I really missed out on family.
That is good you have returned to your faith.
Maybe your husband is a little jealous of your new found interest.
I know when I began learning about Catholicism I wanted to read and study as much as I could before I converted. And after I converted I am still learning. He should feel proud that you are trying to educate yourself more about the faith.
Thank you!
I have often noticed a particular trend. When a woman stays at home, it creates a certain dynamic in a family ie mom is home all day, she can take care of it. It is not necessarily a bad thing but it can easily become a bit too much of a ‘pigeon hole’. And when mom gets a new interest, it does throw people for a loop. It could simply just be a shift in the dynamics of the relationship he is not use to.
I would ask your husband exactly why it bothers him and what you should do differently. Because honestly, it sounds like he threw out a general accusation without any concrete examples or solutions of what he wants to see happne
You are right, the dynamic has changed. For the better, but it’s still change. I really have to bring it up. Thanks
Perhaps you should listen to your husband, that God may be communicating with you through him to tell you that you should see God more in your neighbor (note verses 40 and 42 of
Matthew 25:31-46) – i.e., spend more time with God present in your husband and children, not only as mental abstractions or as an invisible reality. For example, rather than spend time with Jesus alone in the Blessed Sacrament, spend time with Jesus who is in your husband.
I would really love to involve my children more. Thank you for the idea.

One of the things I like about Benedictine spirituality is the focus on balance; a well-lived life needs a balance between rest, work, prayer and recreation, in order to keep the body, mind and spirit healthy.
Benedictine spirituality also teaches us to recognize Christ in others.
If ALL someone can talk about is God/Religion etc., then I think something is out of balance and the OP should try to nurture the other aspects of herself and as others said, see Christ in her husband.
One of the things I find particularly useful for my own mind and body, is exercise. But I’m guessing that’s a problem with 3 kids at home unless one exercises in the home.
I can also fully understand the feelings of the OP of feeling trapped and bored by being at home. Hopefully soon the little ones will be off to school, and then she can perhaps get a part-time job and get more exercise.
Well, I do exercise, since my teenage years I enjoy weight lifting. I like to take that time to reflect on the day. We work out together several times a week. I do get what your saying. Balance is key.
He was raised atheist. Atheist parents, mocking all believers equally. Even though he converted 10 years ago, to marry me, sometimes I wonder if those attitudes or opinions creep up. The last time we had any problems regarding our faith was when I decided we would attend mass every Sunday (4 years ago). It created lots of fights between us for the first few months. But now we enjoy going and the kids behave so well it’s a must.
Thank you all, I knew I would get some good things out of this!
