Didn’t go to read the article. I need recovery time every time I go to the Huffington Post. It is full of hate. So I will take your word for it and say a prayer. It is Sunday and I don’t want to get so mad!!!
Wonder why he would want a Inexpicibaly evil organization to provide social servces? As is usual with the Left they want the Church’s money but not its moral teachigs.
We should take them at their word and get out of it.
“Who pays the piper calls the tune.” As long as the Church is involved with providing any government-funded services these problems will keep recurring and getting worse. All our Bishops should start planning to disentangle themselves from taxpayer-supported programs.
It is already underway. We all know what happened in Boston. The Church may soon be forced out of the health-care field. Better to get out preemptively and carry on with our own (much smaller) programs.
The alternative is what we have here in Albany, the Diocese is virtually part of the Dept of Social Svcs. Certainly none of its agencies are Catholic in any meaningful sense. I don’t know about adoption but they certainly don’t discriminate against gays or gay couples being foster parents.
Detractors of the Catholic Church don’t see the irony in their criticisms. They use the same old, stale accusations, which only serve to reveal a high level of ignorance on the part of the critic. The more they try to bury the Catholic Church in accusations of evil-doing and hypocrisy, the more the truth about the greatness of the Catholic Church is highlighted and revealed.
