I just finished reading this thread Is it ok for married couples to embrace during Mass?
The issue at question is whether or not a married couple is “allowed” to kiss, embrace or hug during the sign of peace.
It appears to me at first blush to be more of a cultural issue rather than a liturgical one. I live in Colombia and it is the norm for family members, friends and close acquaintances to kiss during the sign of the peace. It would be considered odd if one were to simply extend their hand for a polite shake.
Any one have any personal experience or comment on this?
