Hi

I’m not a regular user in here although I’m a proud Roman Catholic, the only true religion that I believe in my full heart. There is nothing in my Church that I regret or get ashamed

But I find myself often talking with a wall ( muslims - islam ), no matter what I say or do it is always bad interpreted

I try hard to evangelize or teach, or at least breaking holes in that inexpugnable wall

read this :

I ate pork, what’s wrong with it ?

damn, I sometimes curse to hell that false prophet - Muhammad

am I wrong ? am I acting wrong ?

I don’t know. You are in a Non-Catholic Religions section of the forum and you are cursing the most important person in Islam to hell. Do you think there is anything wrong with that?

I’m cursing to Hell Muhammad as a liar, but not Allah

I respect Allah because they worship the same God as Abraham did

I think they have a very distorted view about God Love

The way they portrait God is something that I cannot accept

eating pork, were in hell there is any problem with that ?

They talk about Leviticus, but :

God was trying to protect His people from being sick, thousands of years ago when modern medicine wasn’t available, look at Leviticus 7-23

“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat.”

Everybody knows that fat is harmful, and if not well cooked it can transmit diseases as like the Taenia saginata, the beef tapeworm

that tapeworm hides in the fat, the eggs looks like small pieces of fat perfectly undetected

God warning to washing out our hands and clothes etc, is very similar of world health organization saying to wash careful our hands because of the swine flu, they could be contaminated and therefore impure

Considering what Mohammed did - if there is a hell, he is there.

Anyway back to pork. Mohammed followed what the Jews did and didn’t really know why. He wanted to convert Jews and just adopted some of their practices. He was a pagan who worshiped over 300 gods and goddesses of which Allah was the main god. He borrowed from Judaism, Christianity and some other religions and especially from his own pagan religion. The black rock, the hajj and what they do at the hajj are all from his pagan religion.

Pork used to have a problem with it if it wasn’t cooked properly. It could have a worm in it and it could be passed to a human being via uncooked meat. I was raised that one had to cook the hell out of pork before eating it. The USA standards are pretty good and I read a few years ago they don’t have that problem with the worm anymore. But I don’t trust them like I don’t trust the cows not to have mad cow disease. So I still cook the hell out of pork before eating it.

It was probably just a safety issue. It was probably just easier to ban eating it than take a chance. Dying of that worm in a body, I read, was very painful way to die. Jews have many diet restrictions if they follow the Torah. And not all Jews follow the diet restrictions.

Otherwise the only thing wrong with pork is that you shouldn’t eat a lot of it because like red meat it should be restricted and people should eat more fish and other things. And also restrict meats that are processed such as bacon and sausage because of the high fat and also chemicals they put in those things.

I have seen posts here where people have aruged that they aren’t sure Hitler is in hell and that it is possible he was saved. (I don’t agree).

I’m not sure what the purpose of this thread, or the title, is supposed to be. Is declaring that the most important person in Islam (and I appreciate that OP is not cursing God to hell) should be burning in hell a productive post and is making such a statement here wrong?

As to pork, there is no evidence that the Jewish prohibition against eating it had anything to do with health concerns. More likely, the pig is specifically mentioned because it has a cloven hoof and it would be easier for a Jew to be “tricked” into eating it (because we eat only what has a cloven hoof AND chews its cud. The pig is the only animal that has a cloven hoof and does not chew its cud.)

Regarding dietary laws, and in relation to the Jews, the site below explains it quite well.

jewfaq.org/kashrut.htm

Obeying the laws simply because God commanded it. What an interesting notion. All faith traditions should be so mindful.
There is the added consideration that it makes one more attuned to his “Jewishness” if he follows the laws strictly.

After all, Christians have this dietary law requiring them to eat the flesh and drink the blood of their messiah. To the cynical outsider, this must seem ridiculous in the extreme, perhaps even blasphemous.
Also, Catholics are required not to eat meat during Fridays in Lent–why? Because the Church requires it, that’s why. It’s a mortal sin to do otherwise, not because of the eating so much as the defiance of the church.

When they attack you about the Leviticus dietery law againt pork, tell them that also in Leviticus it is forbidden to eat CAMEL as well - and muslims EAT CAMEL!!!

  1. Doncha think that cursing anyone to hell is the job of the Almighty, and that our job is to pray for them?
  2. Um…no. Taenia does not “hide in the fat”, but certain forms of it’s lifecycle can reside in the muscle of an infected carcass. These are not the egg stages, and egg stages of Taenia are microscopic. Eggs are passed by the adult tapeworms in the intestine, as are the live segments, proglottids, which are sections of the tapeworm.
In any case, proper cooking will kill the infective forms.

Trichinella is still “a problem”, albeit a relatively small one in the US, so properly cooking (cooking the hell out of it) pork is still a good idea.

How do you make Holy water? Boil the hell out of it.

This public health update is brought to you by your friendly CAF veterinarian. 🙂

In ancient times, eating pork and getting sick went hand in hand which is why in all probability it was forbidden and considered unclean. Trichinosis is a parasitic disease or roundworm that is found in undercooked pork and wild game. People can also die of it. It is not beyond the scope of contemporary understanding that eating or keeping certain animals was forbidden. Trichinosis shows up in animals with hooves, as well as bears and other wild game. If not cooked properly, the parasite does not die and can be transferred to a human being. The disease has pretty much been eradicated in our commercially bought meat.

I think it would be safer to say that it “may be found” in undercooked pork and game, and that we would be wise to not consider the disease eradicated in the US. It’s important to note that the USDA considers the disease to be “declining”, but not to the point of eradication.

🙂

A lot of people were eating pork in the Bible times. Remember the demons who Jesus cast out of the man and who jumped into a herd of swine and went off the cliff? Those were non-Jewish swine and non-Jews were eating pork. Asians eat a lot of pork.

I totally disagree that the reason Jews did not eat pork has to do with disease. Other peoples were eating pork and feeling just fine.

😃 “non-Jewish swine”.

Sorry, I know what you mean, but I get this mental picture of “Jewish Swine” with little prayer shawls and hats on.

I don’t think you can say for certain that trichinella was a problem or not, either in Jews or in non-Jews. It certainly stands to reason that avoidence of pork could have been for health reasons. On the other hand, there is no evidence that the Jews suffered from trichinella while non-Jews did not.

However, there is no historical evidence that trichinella did not exist in non-Jews, so you cannot really claim with any certainty that “other peoples were eating pork and feeling just fine”.

Not really. Trichinellosis larvae were found in several mummies in Egypt. Also, in the book *Food: The Gift of Osiris *(Vols. 1,2) by by Darby, Ghalioungui & Grivetti (Academic Press, Inc., 1977) a long chapter is devoted to the ups and downs of pork from 5000 BC to approximately 300 AD. Egyptians thought that there was a connection between swine and leprosy and, for the most part, believed that swine was an unclean animal. At other times in Egyptian history, the eating of pork was tolerated.

It is interesting that Jews had foreknowledge of health concerns with consumption of certain things. While the Old Testament placed no restrictions on the eating of fruits and vegetables, severe limitations were given for the eating of certain meats. Among land animals, only those that had a split hoof and chewed the cud were approved as edible (Leviticus 11:3). Of those water-living animals, only those with fins and scales were acceptable (Leviticus 11:9; of interest is the fact that poisonous fish have no scales). Birds of prey were prohibited, as were almost all insects. But perhaps the best known among these biblical prohibitions was eating the meat of the pig; to the Jew, pork was considered unclean, and thus inedible. It is either from God’s revelation to them, or very good observation and making due connections, or a little of both.

Well…ONLY since you asked: Yes, I’m sorry to say, you’re being very rude.

I think Jews have not seen chickens eat 😛 I find them much dirtier than the pigs. All kidding aside though, I admire their self control and the dedication they show in following their rules.

.
That’s interesting the imagined connection between leprosy and pork. Although a lot of the so called lepers in the Bible really just had some skin malady. I imagine the Jews contrived many of their dietary laws from living with the Egyptians.

Fact of the matter is this ~

Every living animal we eat is filthy. Especially free range stuff.

This is how I look at things:

Cows graze the pastures. The pastsures are filled with bird poop, cow poop… etc…

Chickens do the same thing.

Goats, sheep, lamb do the same thing

Fish… they drink and eat from the ocean. What’s in the ocean… fish pee & fish poo.

What’s in the vegetables as they grow in the fields… manure.

Let’s add acid rain on top of this.

Let’s add other water, air & soil pollutants on top of this.

Where does manure come from? This product has been used for 1000’s of years.

I say… be wise, eat and be merry otherwise if we all nit-pick at every food product we eat we will all starve and not eat a thing!

You cannot compare the earth and it’s production from today as it was 6000 years ago when the dietery of Leviticus Laws were written.

What about the cereal you eat in the morning or the bread you eat. How many bird poops have dropped in those while they were growing in the fields. ???

All of this makes you wonder and think.

This post is **MY **opinion and how I view life in general.

Edit to add:

I eat and drink everything that is around… but all in moderation.

Well you are a Christian. 😉 Remember Peter’s vision? No food is unclean!

Listen. Clean and Unclean have nothing to do with whether an animal is dirty or eats its own poop or anything else that has to do with hygene. IF they chew their cud and have cloven hooves, their clean. A pig could bath three times a day and use mouthwash and it wouldn’t change anything.

Even if a pig weren’t specifically prohibited in the Torah, it would fall under the general prohibition since it doesn’t chew its cud.

Any attempt to assign a reason other than what is set forth in the Torah (leviticus) is just a guess.

Well…ONLY since you asked: Yes, I’m sorry to say, you’re being very rude.
That’s why I’m asking in here some advice, I’m a Roman Catholic as I said

In which terms was I rude ? I hope God does forgive me from being that

I had cursed Muhammad to hell only in here, that’s only because I was a little upset back then, but it is a little complicated than that due to the nature of Muhammad

sometimes I don’t know what to do, I have strong faith in my religion and I want to defend Jesus in Catholic point of view at any cost

Where did I failed or in which terms was I rude ? can some Catholic veteran give me some advice or put some light in it ?
