In fact, near the end of John’s gospel account, he commented on this truth twice, saying, “[T]ruly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book… [T]here are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written” (John 20:30; 21:25).Catholics believe that it is not by Scripture alone that we have been given the teachings of Christ and the Apostles.
As did the earliest Christians:We also acknowledge Sacred Tradition as another source (but never a contrary source) of doctrine.
**Phil 4:9**: "Keep on doing what you have learned and received and **HEARD** and **SEEN IN ME**. Then the God of peace will be with you."
**1 Corinth 11:2:** "I praise you because you remember me in everything and **hold fast to the Traditions**, just as I handed them on to you."
**2 Thess 3:6**: "We instruct you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to shun any brother who conducts himself in a disorderly way and not according to the **TRADITION** they received from us."
Nope. We believe that she is daughter of God the Father and mother of God the Son.I worded one of my questions wrong. I believe that Mary is the Mother of Jesus, God manifest, but I don’t believe she is the Mother of God the Father. Wanted to clear that up. So do you guys believe that she is the Mother of God the Father?
…And nor do we. You keep saying that Jesus is God manifest. I want to make something clear, though. You do believe that, even if Jesus had not been sent, or had not yet been sent, that wouldn’t diminish Him as God any less, that is, He was still the Second Person of the Trinity before He came to Earth. He was God, regardless, yes?I agree that Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, God manifest, but what I’m trying to say is that Mary did not give birth to the Father.
No. Mary is Mother of Christ, Mother of the ChurchSo do you guys believe that she is the Mother of God the Father?
But if they are seperate, they are, by definition, not ONE.I view Jesus as God, but I don’t view Jesus as the Father. I believe they are separate.
Here’s one problem: you’re using the King James Translation, which was fine-tuned to support the doctrines of the Church of England. In the original Greek text of that verse, there is no reference to Jesus as Mary’s firstborn son; modern translations reflect this in their wording. Also, I understand that the Catholic Church teaches that Mary was a Virgin, even after Jesus Christ was born.
Mary was a virgin at Christ’s birth, but notice in the below verse it says “her firstborn son”.
**
Matthew 1:25 “And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.” KJV**
The term ‘brethren’ in that time meant any close relative.Matthew 13:55 “Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?” KJV
Now there were only two Apostles named James, one was the son of Zebedee, the other was the son of Alphaeus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother."
Concerning Purgatory…2 Mac. 12: 44-45, 1 Cor. 3:15 and Mt. 5:26 all speak of it.
I was just about to bring that up also but you beat me to it.Here’s one problem: you’re using the King James Translation, which was fine-tuned to support the doctrines of the Church of England. In the original Greek text of that verse, there is no reference to Jesus as Mary’s firstborn son; modern translations reflect this in their wording.
I believe in the three in one. I was just saying that Jesus the Son is not the same as God the Father, speaking about persons. I believe that the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are one. I was referring to the separate persons of the Trinity. But if they are seperate, they are, by definition, not ONE.
Do you believe in one God, or Three.
Note: I am willing to state that the three persons of the Godhead, are distinct persons, in that they can be referenced uniquely, but they cannot be seperate.
We pray to saints in the sense that we ask them to pray for us. We do that here with people on earth–people pray for each other. So too do those who are truly alive in Christ, those who have passed on and are now in heaven, able to pray for us. And so we ask them to.Humble Questions…
Why do you pray through saints when the Bible says there is ONE mediator? Also, where in the Bible does it tell us to pray through saints?
**
1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” KJV**
Another question…
Where in the Bible does it say that Mary was the mother of God? I know that she is the mother of Jesus Christ, God manifest, but God is eternal and was before Mary. To me the Bible teaches that Mary was the mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, but not God the Father, Creator of the Universe.
See this:** "And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come." Matthew 12:32 KJV**Concerning Purgatory…
1 Corinthians 3:15 “If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” KJV
The verse above is talking about the Judgment Seat of Christ. Noticed the Christian is saved from the fire, but his bad works are burned.
*2 Corinthians 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences." KJV
Romans 14:10 “But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” KJV
You may go to pass thread all of the questions have been answer over 100 times==Jesus Christ is our only ‘mediator’ as stated by St. Paul. Non-Catholics like to point out this verse to Catholics (out of context of course), as they mistakenly perceive that we ‘mediate’ through His mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. Nothing could be further from the truth.Humble Questions…

Matthew 1:25 “And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.” KJV**
Mary had other children.
Matthew 13:55 “Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?” KJV
Also, look at Matthew 12:46, Mark 3:31; 6:3, Luke 8:19, John 2:12.
These were not His spiritual brothers because they did not believe in Him until the resurrection.
**
John 7:5 “For neither did his brethren believe in him.” KJV**
The Bible makes clear between Jesus’ physical and spiritual brothers.
John 2:12 “After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.” KJV
**
Other questions…**
Is there scriptural proof for Purgatory?
Thank you for your attention and God bless
But that was the whole point, the Trinity consists of Three DISTINCT persons, but not three SEPERATE persons.I believe in the three in one. I was just saying that Jesus the Son is not the same as God the Father, speaking about persons. I believe that the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are one. I was referring to the separate persons of the Trinity.
