Hungry is a very strong country. They are the only Eastern European county under Communism to have a revolution.

They have a rather new constitution that I recall seems to be very close in many respects to the U.S. constitution.

They also know after living under Communism for years that allowing persons into Hungry not knowing who they really are and agendas that it is best to protect the country.

It is a beautiful country, great food and gracious people.

In my opinion they are being very wise even though many countries are critical especially ones like Germany who are suffering greatly by opening their door without vetting those who came in and are now paying the consequences.

Walls have not worked. China had and has 1, Berlin had one, heck, Mexico’s southern border has one and people still cross.

This wall will eventually fail
There is no wall south of Mexico; that was propaganda ginned-up in the election.

Pictures were used of the Arizona border wall, or even the Israel-Palestine wall, presented as being in Southern Mexico; but check snopes.com.

The border wall in Hungary’s case was a spectacular white elephant: Hungary is not unique, since the Schengen agreement was part suspended and European borders on the Balkan route were closed last year by the EU, the number of migrants to Europe fell by 95% in 2016, and has dropped further this year. It is Italy and Greece which are struggling with seabound arrivals mainly from Eritrea and Nigeria.

Thanks for the fake news bust.

So your saying republicans lied?

According to this forum, democrats do all the lying:shrug:🤷

I think Trump needs to visit Israel and Hungary and see their walls in person!

There are 30+ walls and they work just fine.

Interesting map from Cato.

Poland doesn’t have any terrorist attacks.

excerpt:

Poland is very Catholic country, Polish Catholic Church plays very important role in our society and political life, most of Polish people consider themselves as Catholics, that’s why in terms of taking in refugees most of Poles wanted to take in Christians not muslims (so racist /s) . Also our country doesn’t not provide as many social benefits as Sweden or Germany, so many refugees and immigrants relocate after they realize they would have to work to make on a living and let’s be honest Polish language is not easy to learn.

I don’t think a comparison with northern Ireland is apt because almost all of the border between the U.S. and Mexico is very forbidding desert that is difficult, if not potentially deadly, to cross. Many or most attempted crossings at those places are aided by human traffickers because one has to cross a lot of open desert to even get to the border. So a barrier combined with reasonably good monitoring equipment is likely to be pretty effective. Those parts of the border that are not desert would be different, each in its own way.

Much of Israel’s wall is through populated areas, and is more expensive per capita than a southern wall in the U.S. would be.

Not so sure.

Fifty times the distance, fifty times the population. It would be a wash.

Except that access roads, in some areas hundreds of miles long, would require to be built to the site of wall construction, which is not an issue in Israel.

I’m sorry. I don’t get that impression from my Polish relatives living there.

Actually, walls work VERY well if they are maintained. Israel has them.

The Berlin Wall was different though----it was designed to keep people in who didn’t want to be in…
