Hurt by failing dates

I recommend reading “Gaudete et Exsultate” by pope Francis, especially the sections pertaining to “meeting others”. It points the way to dealing with the difficulties you mention in a Christian way and finding sense in what can appear absurd at times.
 
Another recommendation I haven’t heard is, find a Spiritual Director. He can counsel you with this things. He can be a priest, a religious or an experienced lay person. Mine has helped me very much with this kind of things.
 
Are you trying too hard? Quite possibly. Mad? Slow down and allow the Lord to get a word in edgewise! It is humbling to know that the cause to most of our problems is staring at us in our mirrors.

Once again, slow down and go before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. It may take some time, but you will receive your answer in prayer.
 
Put all your trust in God, He is the one who never disappoints. People we must care for them and treat them with compassion, however be mindful of who you put your trust in.
