I’ve talked the first communion issue ad nauseam, I know, and I apologize to those I’ve bored with it. I guess I just wanting to vent and have no where else to really do so.
I have never been through a tougher year an a spiritual level, and I try to be charitable when discussing this. I guess I’ll just try to keep it short. I’ve felt betrayed and patronized by the DRE and Priest at my son’s parish school. I feel no one is listening to me when it comes to this —*and sometimes it’s even as if I’m being patted on the head and told “there there little protestant. You can’t possibly understand all of this so just go sit down and it will all be all right.” I’m so tired of being told it’s not a big deal. I’m making too much of it. It’s only what I want to make of it. It doesn’t decide anything. That this is next to nothing and I need to save my “fight” for confirmation.
Well, to me it is a big deal. I think I should have some say in it. And no one is even listening to a single concern of mine, or when the do, they’re dismissed as meaningless. This scenario is everything I made clear I did NOT want at the start of this year and they have pushed every button they could to make my wife want this. — Catholic guilt is alive and well…even though she’s so outside of it.
If I let it go on, I feel I’m being shut out of our son’s spiritual life and my own religious traditions will die with me ( I am the adult member of my side of the family).
If I stop it, than I am the bad guy, the anti-Catholic which is such an unfair portrayal as I’ve worked very hard for 20 years to bring things closer. A week ago, I was happy to go to mass and enjoyed so much about it. Now, I can’t drive past a Catholic Church without incredible rage.
It’s very late, I’m making no sense, and I haven’t been able to sleep of take a deep breath for a week. I’ve goy 48 hours to figure this out somehow.
