Honour, I don’t know if you stop reading your thread and the responses but I want you to know that I will be praying for you and your family. I read some of the threads of your husband. You are married to a very controlling man. If you are afraid turn to Jesus who tells us not to be afraid. You may need to get out of the marriage. I don’t know or will judge because that is your decision. Private message me if you need someone to talk to. My dh was controlling when I first married him and had a terrible anger problem. He loved me and knew he needed help and got the help he needed. He still has to fight the anger but is not at all controlling. I pray and pray for him. PM me if you want. Sweetie, you are not alone and God is with you.:). Get some help. Talk to a priest or psychologist. I am here for you too. Hugs for you!

I want to say that the reasoning has to be the same concerning the husband. He has to be attractive for his wife. She has rights, obligations and duties about him. He has some rights, some obligations and some duties in favor of her wife. He has debts toward her. Does he respect the rights of his wife about his garments?
The fact of pleasing his wife and of satisfying his wife, via the clothing, in the respect of the natural moral order, is his obligation of husband.

A correction

There is nothing wrong with a man politely informing his wife of his preferences concerning her wardrobe. There is also nothing wrong with the wife doing the same to her husband. In addition to that there is nothing wrong when the wife rejects the husband’s choices if she does not agree with his taste in clothing. After all the person wearing the clothing should have the final say. But there is a middle ground. If the OP’s husband hates her denim skirts then it would be sensible to avoid wearing the denim skirts when he is home. And perhaps avoid any more purchase of denim skirts. But more importantly you have to solve the bigger problem where you state that your husband is mean to you. That is just not acceptable. That is your real problem.

I will for sure take your word for it. My wife is a tall(ish), athletic but skinny woman. It makes life for her pretty interesting when she’s pregnant or nursing. Especially nursing actually, because she loses the pregnancy weight within two months. Except the extra 2-5 pounds she carries up top.

Suffice to say that, outside of those circumstances, she can just grab a size zero or two dress off the rack and it works just fine. For decorum and modesty, she does lean towards the longer dresses because she has longer legs and what I would consider an “average” length torso.

So yeah, about that miniskirt when the kids are away…
Yes, if you can wear a size zero or two off the rack and have long legs so that the longer styles don’t hit you 3/4 or more the way down the shin, you’re going to have a lot less difficulty finding something that works.

I have to disagree that dressing modest and stylish is hard. You can acheive both.
