I’m going to have my Traddy credentials revoked, but…

I actually like Here I Am Lord. I kinda like On Eagle’s Wings too. I blame concupisence.

Eh, nobody’s perfect…
I like *Be Not Afraid *which often poo-pood by my fellow traditional Mass attendees.

I believe that either Haugen or Haas is actually Lutheran… that could explain the mere allusion.
Haas is a music teacher/choir director at my sons’ high school. He is wonderful! He is definitely Catholic!

I, for one, love the Haugen/Haas music. It’s fun! It’s creative! Yes, it has poetic license, but is that really so bad?!?

**It actually is what helped bring into the Catholic church years ago. **I had some preconceived notions about a lot of things, music included, and this Haugen/Haas music was one of the first things to help break down my misconceptions.

I now am so (over)involved in my Catholic parish, it isn’t even funny! As a result, I married a Catholic man, have 3 Catholic children who are all attending Catholic schools, and the list goes on.

And now one of my sons has Haas as a teacher/director! It is a funny world!

Our children’s choir sings, “One Bread, One Body”.
I like it when my girls are singing it.

Hey (off topic) did you get my email about Gab’s party?
I just sent a reply.
I have to set up for the Dance on Sat. Poo!

Is that for Net and Mil? If just Net, tell my hubby. He’s going to be hanging and waiting anyway so he and Mil can go play games.

That’s a fun place. We did a Homeschool skate there. Pity neither girl can skate!

It’s actually Sunday & it’s for both.

No poo-pooing here. I don’t poo-poo Be Not Afraid. That’s another good one.

I also like Gift of Finest Wheat. Theological dubiousness notwithstanding.

Ugh. I’ll be holding hands during the Our Father before I know it. What’s wrong with me??? 😦

Are you going soft? 😃

Now We Remain by David Haas.

Refrain
We hold the death of the Lord deep in our hearts.
Living, now we remain with Jesus, the Christ.
*
Alright, that’s good. I can imagine myself staying with Christ at the foot of the Cross.*

Verse 1
Once we were people afraid, lost in the night.
Then by Your Cross we were saved,
Dead became living, life from Your giving.
*
This is a good verse. I don’t see anything wrong with it.*

Verse 2
Something which we have known, something we’ve touched.
What we have seen with our eyes,
This we have heard, life-giving Word.
*
Huh? What is the ‘something’ ?? *

Verse 3
He chose to give of Himself, became our bread.
Broken that we might live,
Love beyond love, pain for our pain.

*Um, I think the poetic license of “bread” is going a little too far. *

Verse 4
We are the presence of God; this is our call.
Now to become bread and wine,
Food for the hungry, life for the weary,
For to live with the Lord, we must die with the Lord.

Ugh, no we don’t become bread. Sorry. I think the composer is trying to turn the Eucharist into some sort of social justice issue. “We are the presence of God”. I just don’t get that. I mean, I understand the Holy Spirit guides people, but when I walk into a room, people don’t say “Hi God”…Look, God is omnipotent and omniscient, but tell me where in the Catechism God is omnipresent. I think the orthodox Catholic belief is that Christ is substantially present in the Eucharist. Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.

Now to become bread and wine,
Food for the hungry, life for the weary,

.

For someone not well formed in the Faith—the above can cause confusion. It sounds as if—we become the Eucharist.

Lyrics for Song: Rose Garden
Lyrics for Album: Golden Classics Edition

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.
When you take, you gotta give, so live and let live,
Or let go.
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.

I could promise you things like big diamond rings,
But you don’t find roses growin’ on stalks of clover.
So you better think it over.
Well, if sweet-talkin’ you could make it come true,
I would give you the world right now on a silver platter,
But what would it matter?
So smile for a while and let’s be jolly:
Love shouldn’t be so melancholy.
Come along and share the good times while we can.

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.

Instrumental break.

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.

I could sing you a tune or promise you the moon,
But if that’s what it takes to hold you,
I’d just as soon let you go, but there’s one thing I want you to know.
You better look before you leap, still waters run deep,
And there won’t always be someone there to pull you out,
And you know what I’m talkin’ about.
So smile for a while and let’s be jolly:
Love shouldn’t be so melancholy.
Come along and share the good times while we can.

I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.

Dr. Bombay—I am Shocked----Shocked I say. What is in your water. 😛
I don’t know. But it made me remember another one I like. *Though the Mountains May Fall. *

I may have to add a St. Louis Jesuits CD to my collection. :hmmm:

Dr. Bombay,

You’ve been sniffing too much glue. I think your brain has been fried.

Me thinks thou needest a good Tridentine Mass to get the “kinks” out.

I just had one this morning. Low.

I take it you don’t think I should approach my pastor about using *City of God *as the recessional at next Sunday’s High Mass??

Wait. I’m safe. I can’t stand City of God. Whew. I was getting worried there for a minute. :yup:
