You are invoking the genetic fallacy, Emperor. That is something the Church does not embrace.Is that a quote from Voltaire in your signature? I thought the Church condemned Voltaire’s writings as heretical. Indeed, he is listed in the “Index Librorum Prohobitum”.
For what reason would a Catholic (out of curiosity only) support Voltaire?![]()
Just because a source may be questionable…don’t assume what the source professes is wrong.
For example, if your child says, “I learned on Barney that we shouldn’t leave the water running when we brush our teeth!”
It would be wrong to say, “We don’t get our ecological principles from a puppet. Therefore, you SHOULD run the water when you brush your teeth.”
Rather, we Catholics evaluate the truth of what’s proposed, regardless of the source.
If it’s true, then we say
So, if Voltaire says, “There is only 1 God”, we say, “Yes!” and we might decide to put that on our signature.
