It is our fallen nature that sometimes drives us to hate the truth. I completely agree with everything you’ve said.I think he will be like his blessed predecessor, Pope John Paul II. He is going to be wildly loved and heavily resented by turns by different groups within the Church, because he uses his charismatic gifts to speak the truth. There are parts of the truth for each of us that we love and parts of the truth that convict us, and so it is inevitable that Popes like those two will get very strong reactions. (Pope Benedict was more nuanced and subtle about how he put things and did not have such a “stage presence” of such disarming charm, so the way his truth-telling played out in the public arena was a little different: less splashy, often received with somewhat less emotion, and a little more vulnerable to confusion.)
Somehow I don’t think the mainstream media does though. They can’t put him in their little “box”! But that’s okay by me!Me too!
Here is a link about his art & music tastes.

He is exactly what the Church needs. I think he’s cooler than the other side of the pillowPope Francis reminds me of Pope John XXIII, and I think he was as much a surprise as John XXIII or Pope John Paul II was.![]()

If I had to guess from what I know about the man. He works through his actions moreso than he does with his writings. But I think his ideals and theology speaks loudly through the deeds he commits.I have to confess I have no deep feeling one way or the other for Pope Francis. Not in the way I absolutely fell in love with Bl. JPII almost immediately.
I look forward to seeing some of his encyclicals, letters and other theological writings because I get a better sense of who someone is through the written words rather than visually and through what they speak.
I love his choice of papal name though!

I feel exactly the same way. Benedict used words the way a surgeon uses a scalpel, precisely and without ambiguity. Recent comments by the current pope are certainly ambiguous, and will be interpreted, correctly or not, as reflecting the zeitgeist, or spirit of the times. John Paul II was also a master of this sort of ambiguity, trying to please all while muddying the waters. Time will tell, though I am not hopeful. He seems like a holy man but I stills out know how I feel about him.
I love Pope Benedict and I got sick the day he announced hep is resignation. I hope God gives them many years…
Actually, he’s trying to take us back to the 1st century --** live the Gospel**.What is up with this pope? you’d think he’s trying to bring the church into the 21st century or something![]()
So - you believe that Christ our King, through the Holy Spirit, made a poor choice of Vicar in this case?Unfortunately, I think he’s going the wrong way. We need more of a hardliner who will stand up and promote the truth. While he’s not denying the truth at all, he’s making it much easier for people to distort Catholic teaching. We already have bishops and priests who preach that it doesn’t matter what you do, you’re going to go to heaven anyway. All this will do is encourage more false teaching in the church and they will be taken for the truth.
