I was raised in a Catholic country, in a Catholic family. But I consider leaving Catholicism due to the lack of Bible reading, Bible preaching, Bible following, Bible, Bible, Bible. I love the Protestant approach to the Bible as the supreme authority over all mater of faith. I love Bible preaching sermons, something you won’t find in the Catholic Church. I watch a few Youtube channels that made me love Protestantism, such channels as > Living Waters, Cleveland Street Preachers, Koosha Las Vegas Ex Muslim - primarily this channel has me wanting to leave Catholicism, Torch of Christ ministries, Mike Winger and more. I love the Faith Alone doctrine and it seems beautiful to me. It seems godly to me. Like something God would come up with.
I saw pictures of Pope Francis and other popes doing the satanic symbol of devil’s horns, Kissing the Qur’an, the pope’s hat a symbol of a fish god, and many more things. I am considering just being a christian, who cannot afford to go to a protestant church so I will worship at home. Catholicism doesn’t give me peace. Reading the Bible and praying to God only does. But I am afraid that if I leave the Church, I will go to hell. Will I go to hell? Are protestants christians?

Thinking about leaving the Catholic Church Casual Discussion
I don’t know anything anymore. I am so confused by all the denominations and lies and Pope doing the devil’s horns with his hand, Pope John Paul kissing the Qur’an of the fake God Allah. I am confused. I don’t get the veneration of Mary, I don’t know why the homilies are so boring and with no real substance, no bible preaching. Bible is the word of God and must be preached. I don’t get the praying to saints, Jesus is the only way. I don’t feel good as a Catholic. I am drawn to protestantism so m…
Perhaps you should stop listening to things that are full of distortions and untruths about Catholicism.
Some of what you listed is just ordinary anti-Catholic bashing, and you have fallen for it. I don’t know how old you are, or how well catechized, but you don’t really seem to know very much about Catholicism, nor do you understand the gist of Protestantism by some of the things you have mentioned.

Please, dear friend. Do not leave the Church.

The Church is God’s flock. She has the fulness of truth, and only She. Sometimes, we go through periods of doubt, laziness, sadness, dryness and fear. Through all things, persevere. Let us all, dear friend, try our best to persevere in love for God and others.
Outside of the Church there is chaos and no salvation. Our Lord Jesus Christ loves you and us all, and He does not want anyone to perish, but that all should be saved. With that in mind, how could we cut ourelves from His body and expect salvation?
Please, stay with Christ and His Church, and by God’s grace, persevere and stay in faith, hope and love.

Choose Christ, choose the Church, choose Life. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, but if we are to go that way, believe in that truth and have eternal life, we need to be a part of His body.
Speak with a priest, study the apologetics material on Catholic Answers, pray and persevere.

God be with you, dear friend. Where the Church is, Christ is there also.
Peace!

The grass always seems greener on the other side.

Get involved in a ministry that is big on scripture reading. I found one with men who actually read The Bible and can defend the Catholic faith by using it. Protestants have nothing on their Biblical knowledge.

Protestants are Christian (if they are Baptised. Some protestants believe all you have to do is say a prayer and believe in Jesus and you are a Christian) but you should not a abandon The Catholic Church just because you like them more. They do not have The Eucharist. Their religion is 500 years old at best. The newer churches can be only 5 or 10 or 20 years old. Think about it… the Catholic Church is 2000 years old and started with Jesus. They (protestant churches) do not know how to read The Bible correctly because God did not give a protestant Church The Bible. He gave it to us through The Catholic Church.

Listening to protestants interpret The Bible is like listening to a teenager that thinks they know better then a wise old man. The Catholic Church is The wise old man. The teenager (protrstantism) may be more modern and hip but it does not have The wisdom of The old Grandfather.

If you know The Catholic Church is The true Church but you leave it, then that is dangerous. If you do not believe it is the true Church then I would say you need to study and learn your faith more. I use to be protestant and I became Catholic. Trust me, Catholicism is more Biblical. Protestants ignore a lot of scripture in favor of a few key key verses that they think supports their views. Plus their main doctrine called “Sola scriptura” or “Bible alone” is not Biblical and did not exist until a few hundred years ago. The Jews were not “Bible alone” neither were The early Catholics (who were the first Christians)

You are going to find bad things in protestantism too, not just in Catholisism. Popes did stupid stuff. There were 265 popes from the time of Jesus until now. So of course some of them did stupid stuff. That does not disprove Catholisism. I am sure none of them worshiped The Devil. If you have time to study people who say The Catholuc Church is bad, then you have time to study The Churches response to the bad accusations. Isn’t that fair?

For every accusation against The Church I can find somthing wrong with protestantism. I use to be one. Just private message me if you want to know. The man who started protestantism tried to remove a few Books from The Bible. He did not like James, Revelations, Hebrews, and jude. He said they were not God inspired. Protestantism got its start with that kind of wickedness.

Before making any decision I would encourage you to study the catechism of the church to get a better understanding of what the church actually teaches about these matters. From your post I got the impression, please forgive me if I’m wrong, that you have not really studied the foundation for the church teaching. Study what the church teaches, not what other say the church teaches.

You should read the Bible often, the Pope encourages us to read it.

And remember, the Catholic Church selected the books that are in the Bible.

Scripture is the source of so much in Catholic faith!

The Daily Mass Readings of the Catholic Church provide a rich source of readings. The daily Liturgy of Hours (as prayed by priests and religious and others) bring additional richness.

Why trade the high degree of the fullness of Christian life in the Catholic Church for something that is much less?

Look also at the fruits. The Catholic Church has the members, the converts, the saints, the outreach, the schools, the hospitals, the truth, the prayers, the history, the high degree of fullness, the church calendar, the Real Presence, consecrated religious and more.

But I consider leaving Catholicism due to the lack of Bible reading, Bible preaching, Bible following, Bible, Bible, Bible.
You literally have to have a bag over your head and cotton in your ears to believe that the Catholic Church lacks bible reading and preaching.

I don’t believe you got an adequate upbringing in the faith if this is your outcome.
I love the Protestant approach to the Bible as the supreme authority over all mater of faith
Except that it’s a heresy and completely untenable, as evidenced by all the sincere people who disagree on their own interpretations of the Bible.
primarily this channel has me wanting to leave Catholicism
Then you need to stop watching this immediately as it is harming your faith and filling your mind with false teaching.
But I am afraid that if I leave the Church, I will go to hell. Will I go to hell?
Maybe. Maybe not.

The Catholic Church is Christ’s Church on earth and while the internet has brought us many good things, it also brings dangerous ideas into the homes or many who are less educated in the faith such as the things you mention above. You’ve been deceived and need to stop watching these things that are filling you full of confusion. God is not the author of confusion.

Talk to your local pastor about your concerns.

Remember the scene of Moses coming upon the Burning Bush? That scene points forward in time to Christ who is present day and night in the blessed sacrament. The Bread of Life. This is what should be in your mind when you walk into a Catholic church and see the small red candle glowing. Very humble, very quiet. This is why God gave us this image, so we who come and knee can know what really is hidden there.

You can read as much of the bible as you want being a Catholic too. It all depends on how much time you want to devote to it.

Dear friend,

Your username is “SearchingForTruth1.” You seem to have done some research on Protestantism from a Protestant perspective. Not to imply that you have not already, but it seems to me that you may misunderstand what the Catholic Church teaches, so I encourage you to give Catholicism a fair shot and to see how Catholics answer your questions. While this forum can be a good place for discussion, the Catholic Answers website itself has actual theologian responses to your questions.

Now with that being said, you stated that your love the Bible. That’s great. I’ll also admit, the Catholic Church has not always been great at promoting devotion to Scripture, even though the Catholic Church formalized the canon and encourages devotion now. Maybe God is calling you to encourage stronger scriptural devotion in Catholicism. The Church, like ourselves, needs continual reform.

To respond directly to a few of your claims, the Bible cannot, logically speaking, be the supreme authority over all matters of faith. That view is completely untenable given that someone had to choose which books were canon and which books were not. Additionally, what happens when people read the Bible as saying two different things? That’s why there are so many schisms in Protestantism. No Protestant body has authority to actually judge what the Bible says. The Church is a gift from Jesus. Despite the scandals that arise from human sins, Jesus promised that the gates of Hell will not prevail over His Church.

To another point, you see a lot of anti-Catholic rhetoric based on falsehoods. The pope isn’t a satanist. The Jesuits aren’t controlling the world. The Catholic Church isn’t pagan. These lies are perpetuated by tin-foil theorists trying to destroy the Church. Those claims are not based on genuine love but fear and hate, which come from the devil. We have to be careful of the sources we seek information from. In the internet age, anyone can post anything.

Lastly, you claimed that by leaving the Church, you will worship at home. Yet, Jesus calls us for communion with others. You’ll know decisions by their fruits. If leaving the Church leads you to worshiping alone, then I think that is a pretty good indicator that the desire to leave is not from God. My suggestion is to search for some good Catholic sources on these issues. I also suggest to read Dei Verbum, the Church’s document on the Word of God. I think that as you discover what Catholicism teaches about the Bible, you’ll see the beauty in the Church. I’ll be praying for you. Please pray for me.

John 6:

60 Then many of the disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

67 Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?”

68 Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

There are a lot of easy answers in the non-Catholic faiths. Did Jesus say, “Do whatever you want and you will get to Heaven”? Nope.

Remember Second Timothy, 4:

3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers,
4 and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths.

This is what my parents and their friends did when they started their own “church”. Convinced there was more to learn, they hired a pastor, (accumulate teachers) and began to believe things that are not accurate. Basically, they wanted to hear what they wanted to hear, and nothing else. When they disagreed with that pastor, they fired him and got a different one who would tell them nice, happy, things and assure them all of us were going to Heaven. I guess a difference here is they already were not Catholic, but still, they had insatiable curiosity, and they fell into believing myths and fables, (false teachings).

Recently I heard an Catholic apologist saying that he has seen genuine healings and miracles since he became Catholic, compared to when he was not Catholic. Sure they would claim a miracle or healing, but he was never truly convinced. He would just go along with it.
. But I am afraid that if I leave the Church, I will go to hell.
It is very serious to leave the Catholic Church and only attend non-Catholic services. Sure, you might be going to church, but it isn’t Mass. And as a Catholic, you attend Mass. You might as well be going fishing, or to a movie on Sunday morning if you do not go to Mass, and instead go to a church service at a non-Catholic church. It could be a mortal sin if you stop going to Mass, and have full knowledge and consent of your will. I say could be, because I cannot judge your heart. Just remember, it is very dangerous ground, and not worth it at all.

You’ve obviously read and looked at a lot of things that lead you astray. As a Catholic, you should have stopped when you realized these things were anti-Catholic. It’s a sin to keep reading and looking at things that draw you away from God’s own holy church. But let’s meet you where you are now.

If you love Scripture, you can enroll in a Catholic Bible study course, or read a Catholic Bible for a half hour every day sa a form or prayer. It sounds more like your problem is with a lot of wrong stuff you read, not with lack of Bible. There are plenty of Catholics who read the Bible every day and I personally know Catholics who go around with a little Bible always in their hand or a Bible app on their device so they can read it wherever they happen to be.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you make the Bible the “supreme authority”, some human is always interpreting what the Bible actually means. There are many thousands of these humans who started or are associated with Protestant churches and even non-Protestant churches like LDS, and none of them agree with each other on the meaning of parts of the Bible. It’s a dead end to go looking for any kind of truth there.

I will pray for you that you get a grip and quit believing every piece of anti-Catholic propaganda that’s thrown at you. I also think you need to consider whether your interest in Protestantism is really coming not from a search for truth, but out of some need to be different or rebel in the middle of a Catholic country and Catholic family.

Bible, Bible, Bible
And who put it together? without the Church, a myriad of interpretations will lead to many errors… remember that the first one who twisted the meaning of Scripture was the Devil himself, when he tempted Jesus in the desert.

Yeah, I keep hearing stuff like this and reading stuff like this but the vast majority of Catholics I know seem to be way better acquainted with the Bible than Protestants. Most of the Protestants where I live are Baptist, the ironically named non-denominational denominations, or Methodist. I have found, the large majority of them just memorize certain Bible verses, but cannot tell you entire books of the Bible. Like, sometimes you’ll find Roman Road tracts, and it will leave a lot of stuff out. And because I’m me, I’ll write that there are some things in there that are unbiblical, and point out that they’re not in the Bible, and point out that you need to read the rest of Romans. Marcus Grodi actually talked about that from when he was a Protestant, he said he never liked the Roman Road because it was not a straight path.

Human beings depending upon their own interpretations and making their own doctrines leads to a multitude doing their own “thang/thing” and that leads to chaos. And chaos is dangerous when the glory of God, the well-being of the Church, and the eternal state of souls is at stake.
