With the Grace of God and with the intercession of St. Teresa of Avila, I’ve got my Faith back.

I got the EWTN Newsletter in the mail and as I was reading it, Grace filled my heart and soul. The newsletter had “I am a daughter of the Church” is what St. Teresa of Avila once said and she remained faithful to them through trials, temptations, etc. and THAT right there immediately warmed my soul and heart and I knew from the intercession of the saint I could sense her telling me, “YOU too are also a daughter of the Church and must return!” and joy and hope was in me big time. I knew at that moment that I too am a daughter of the Church and the gates of Hell will NOT prevail against the CC, therefore, I will NOT let the gates of Hell prevail against MY faith or emotions, feelings, etc. because I am part of that Church! I too must remain faithful to Jesus through trial, temptations as well, even emotions and feelings. Same goes with you guys. Whether you guys think I’m nuts thinking that or not, I don’t care, I must return to the CC ASAP.

Now, first of all, let me just say that the reason why I was so emotional and you guys thought I was perhaps insane so to speak was because (1) the devil was behind it and (2) it was an excercise to not base faith on emotions or feelings but to trust.

I was totally upset from some posts that were on here due to the fact that some people here said that they were getting mad because I didn’t listen to the advice here, etc. and I don’t like making people mad and I didn’t have the intention. Though I was so emotional and disoriented that the way I posted may have gotten some angry and I apologize for that but like I said, had no intention.

Now I have come to realize I was hit by a 2x4 between the eyes spiritually. I was basing my faith way too much on my emotions and feelings and I went to Jesus and told HIm how I felt and I could sense Him saying to me “Don’t be basing your Faith on your emotions or feelings. You have to learn to be faithful to Me and trust Me no matter what.”

I was looking at the crucifix that hangs on my wall and medidated on it for awhile. Then somehow, I really knew that our Lord had suffered for us big time. That made me realize that my sufferings should be united with His on the Cross, therefore, I am willing to suffer what I suffer because He suffered for me. The words from St. Teresa of Avila still remain strong in the back of my mind and deep in my soul and must remain faithful to them as well.

I don’t care what you guys think of me getting my faith back like this, I’ve just got a joy that’s way beyond mere emotions or feelings deep deep in my soul and nothing can take that away because it’s truly from God Almighty.👍

BTW, my emotions and feelings don’t get in the way anymore. Now I understand.

I know this is a stupid question…

So even though I left the CC for a short time, I can still start back with Confession this Saturday and the Eucharist? Father wont tell me, “well, sorry, you left the Church can’t come back. Sorry!” ?

You have been baptized into the Holy Roman Catholic church.
That doesn’t change just because you went through a crisis of faith. You’re one of us, Paris Blues. You’re safe in the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ. You’re home. 🙂

So I can still call myself Catholic?😃

If you formally left the Church, you may need to make a Profession of Faith to “get back into” the Church.

If you just lapsed, and did formally leave the Catholic Church, or join another denomination or religion, then just go to Confession, and confess all of your mortal sins, and of course it would be good to confess your venial sins as well, but that is not strictly required. The requirement is that you have to confess your mortal sins in number and kind, and be sorry for them. You must be sorry for your venial sins as well.

Welcome back! I said a prayer for you. 🙂

Did you say guys? 🙂 So often they are left brained logical and we are right-brained emotional and we really do act like people on different planet who don’t speak the same language.

Women can be logical left-brained too. My Mom is. Sometimes it seems she has never left that planet, even to visit.

So go ahead and scold. They need to learn to monitor their responses to an emotionally upset woman. But don’t take their shortcoming personally.

I am so glad God blessed you with a sure feeling along with the light of understanding. He gives us what we need.

When you really really strong in the Lord someday, He might withdraw all emotional support for a time. Then you will know you are on your way to Sainthood, as all the saints seem to have a “dark night of the soul”. But I think for most of us that is a long way off. Most of us are “young” at heart in loving the Lord and He treats us accordingly.

And yes you are still Catholic! And keep going to confession. Its okay if you don’t get it right time after time. eventually you will have a confession you feel right about and are satisfied with. Meanwhile, God is happy with the best you can do right now, even if its pitiful.

Allow me to draw the curtain and save you the suspense. This is not the first nor the last that emotions will get to you. You will go through this again. And again…

This is one of the downer of having a broken human nature.

But, since you have divine life in you already, you can always go back and the lifeline is HUMILITY. Make acts of contrition after you do your examination of conscience. God did not let Peter sink when he walked on water, Christ saved him. He’ll do it for you too.

If the Church will readily take me back after two decades away and following other religions, I’m sure She’ll take you back. 🙂

I know. That’s why I told myself that I will NOT let the gates of Hell prevail against my Faith, emotions, feelings, etc.!! Boy, when I believed that, I could sense Satan fearing and leaving me for awhile. We obviously are in spiritual combat!

You’re right, our Lord didn’t let Peter sink. And that’s exactly what I fell into…I didn’t keep my eyes on Jesus. I kept them on my emotions and feelings, not on Jesus. See, I think that’s why that was in Scripture so we can learn to keep our eyes on Jesus Christ!😃 If we don’t, we’ll fall spiritually.
