St. Michael the Archangel,*
defend us in battle.*
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.*
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,*
and do thou,*
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,*
by the power of God,*
thrust into hell Satan,*
and all the evil spirits,*
who prowl about the world*
seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

I’m really glad that despite the pain you still have faith in God. I’ had become agnostic before because I felt that same feeling too. God always intervenes so continue to pray and persevere. Every time I am discouraged to pray I always remember Elijah’s perseverance and great faith.

**Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.-James 5:17
**

If you have made it a habit to visualize your fears and anxieties constantly, why not start to learn the art of prayer of visualizing and daydreaming of the joys and fulfillment you want to receive from the Lord for each day? Dream of good things for your life each day and moment…If it’s very possible for you to dream of fears, anxieties and rejections, you can dream of joys, healing, love and mercy. You can do it and please so daily .😃 I always believe that God is always giving us the grace that we need, the problem is our capacity to receive it and to believe in it.

I am a 20 year old guy and I feel utterly hopeless. I have no friends, and people I meet seem to avoid me. I am socially awkward and a total outcast. Ever since I was 9 or 10 I have felt lonely without anyone to talk to, nor would I even be able to go outside due to my severe social anxiety. I have no social skills, no hobbies, I’m absolutely nothing. My family doesn’t like me nor do they like talking to me. I’m left all alone. I am not attractive by any means and I’ve been hurt by so many people over the years that I have become emotionless. Every day and night my head throbs with mental pain and anguish.
I soak my bed with tears, crying and eventually I have no more tears to shed. I have no personality and I don’t know who I am. I am extremely boring and I make everything seem serious. All I do is sit at home alone resting on a couch or bed. Every single day. I can’t even express how I feel to anyone outside in real life because of my anxiety and chance it could cause more depression. Why am I such a failure? Why did I have to go through unimaginable pain?

Read this it will help you.
God please don’t abandon me. I love God but I have to ask him why can’t I have a normal life and be happy? Why am I such a freak? No one cares about me. I don’t want to die but the pain is crippling and it feels like someone is stabbing my already broken heart.
I can’t remember the last time I was happy. I have been betrayed by everyone - family and others. I don’t understand the point of living… I don’t want to deal with any of this pain anymore…
Lord where are you? I have cried out to you Lord… am I not loved by you? Am I not your child? Am I too much a failure to care about?
Pray for me, because I have nobody.

Went through something very much like that myself when I was your age. Lasted a few years. Now I’m 67 and rather happy with my life, seeing how that time actually made me strong, and allowed me to ask questions that wouldn’t have come to me if I was comfortable.

There were a number of factors in my depression; they may possibly apply to you, or not. Some of them aren’t often mentioned, so I will just put them on the table. No need to pick any of them up, if they don’t suit.

Though I was eating, I was malnourished. I was eating a junk diet that included lots of fat, sugar, salt, alcohol, and few if any fresh greens and fruits. I actually ate a cup or more of white sugar and cocoa nearly very day. The resulting chemical imbalance manifested as lack of interest, depression, lethargy and social apathy partly due to a low self image. So eating differently, going more for healthy food, even got to thinking of cooking as a meditation all helped. And by the way, turmeric has been known to be effective with cases of depression. Look it up, if you like.

My perceptions of my self were heavily influenced by overindulgence in feeling that I was a sinner. That is called scrupulosity. It is not healthy. Instead of having an inventory of what I could do, even a little well, and developing that, I dwelt on what was wrong with me. I got to the point where I actually repelled people by my “vibe.” Concentrating even on small things that were good about me opened up a world of things I hadn’t even realized before then. You are where your attention is. 🙂

My hygiene was not the best. OK, it was pathetic. And I didn’t even have a clue until someone actually came up to me and sprayed an entire can of Right Guard on me, even as I was trying to run away. (Did you know “hygiene” comes from the name of the Greek Goddess of well being, Hygieia? 🙂 ) I learned to brush my teeth, take showers, change my underwear, use deodorant, etc. Eventually I got so good I actually had a job as a member of staff in a completely old world elegant mansion. I fooled even me! 🙂

I wasn’t interested in anybody else. It was all about me. Eventually, somehow, it got to where I saw that being interested in others got my energy up, either by agreement or contrast, and I actually had things to talk about. I got to me willing to make an utter fool of myself just to see what would happen if I talked to someone. God, talk about fear and pain. But I was desperate. I was tired of being a recluse. even in public.

Twice I was absolutely certain I would just die, or was dying. Many things were going on, and eventually I got through them and even later found psychological or physiological explanations for some of them.

At one point, I was, along with the above, also sure I was going mad. For three days my only friend was a lump of clay that I “kneaded/needed.” I had a 14’ stuffed calico snake my sister made me, and I wore it on college campus, wrapped around me and got to be known as “snake guy.” But I got through that, too.

I got c-r-a-p advice. One counselor even told me that if nothing else worked, just keep telling myself “Jinkees, it’s great to be a clam!” And for what it’s worth, all the “keep your faith” and “we’ll pray for you” were of no noticable help, or worse.

I was knocked out, and upon wakening, had realized something about myself and the nature of my mind that was totally unexpected and had no explanation or remedy in my faith. Some people thought I needed a psychiatrist, even though my grades and abilities improved. I had to totally re-asses what I thought I was as a person, and what “God” meant to me. It took years to stabilize from that one. Eventually there was a handle for that, too, from a totally unexpected direction.

Somehow, through all of it, I knew there was “God,” even if my definition or understanding was whacked. I was also totally sure I couldn’t hurt God by doing my sincere best to find out what I was about, conforming to my faith, or not, going by sincere inquiry about my experience and nature. Yes, I eventually had a total revamping of that concept through a lot of prayer, I guess it cold be called, but more likely meditation or contemplation. I am totally convinced that no one is outside of the Arms of Love. We are ALL in that embrace. And if we feel that we are not, it is because our thoughts about God and ourselves are making the wall we can’t see through. But we are still there.

So, Mike 2112, I don’t believe I’ve ever told all that to anyone on one plate. I’m only telling you, because it sounds like you could use some company and some comfort. I can’t be there, but maybe my story will help. For what it’s worth, 47 years later, I’m a successful artist with work in Europe, Canada, and all over the States. I am a part of the community here both in business as a house painter and as a volunteer in the Arts and with the County as a successful counselor for Seniors. My “take” on God is a bit different than most, but I know for certain that no matter what it looks like, Love rules the field. I hope that maybe some f what I went through helps you, or at lest give you some hope! Blessings on you! 🙂

I want to say something amazing that will make you feel better, but unfortunately, I don’t have those words. I will tell you that I am praying for you. I am praying that God show His love to you. I am praying that God help you and give you the strength, courage, wisdom, and knowledge that you need. I am praying above all else that God heal you inside and out. That He shine down upon you his graces and mercy and that he shines on and through you.

You never fail unless you fail to try. Develop confidence in yourself. There is a lot of good in you to like. Posters above have given you sound advice. If you read a lot, join or start a book club. Focus on the gifts God has blessed you with and use them. I had to push myself, there was no one else but God to help me. Praying for you, dear friend.

“Saturate your thoughts with peaceful experiences, peaceful words and ideas, and ultimately you will have a storehouse of peace producing experiences to which you may turn for refreshment and renewal of your spirit.” Norman Vincent Peale

Hi Mike, well I feel like that at age 69, and you are 20, the only advice I have is don’t stop trying, time is running out for me but you still have many years left to go.

Don’t expect anything from our society, then you will have nothing to lose.

The only advise I have to give, just look at it as a journey you are on, hopefully you would learn from your experience what life is all about, sometimes it takes your full maturity to understand and benefit from your experience. I won’t be surprised at all, if no one escapes the experience of lives journey. Just try your very best to be a decent human being and I’m sure that you would be rewarded for it.

Keep going!

Divine Mercy Chaplet

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Had an intuition to pray for you. I hope things are better, but if they aren’t, please know we are lifting you up to God like the persistent widow. God bless.

PRAYER TO ST. LAWRENCE

O Glorious Saint Lawrence, Martyr and Deacon,
who, being subjected to the most bitter torments,
did not lose your faith nor your constancy in confessing Jesus Christ,
obtain in like manner for us such an active and solid faith,
that we shall never be ashamed to be true followers of Jesus Christ,
and fervent Christians in word and in deed,
even in spite of trials, persecutions, or the sword. Amen.
