petra:
Mary is not the Queen of Heaven. She is the Queen Mother. Big difference. The Queen Mother is simply mother to the ruling king or queen, but is not a queen herself.
Mary was the earthly mother of the incarnation of Jesus. She is not the mother of the Trinity. She is no goddess. She is an earthly creation who was very devout in her faith and obedient to God. Her cooperation with God enabled her to be a very big part of God’s plan of salvation. She deserves honor for that. And her prayers accomplish much, so it is appropriate to ask her to pray for us.
I see some Catholics that cross the line, giving Mary more than just veneration. Not only is that blasphemous, but it alienates Protestants that may otherwise be open to learning about Catholicism.
**Wrong! Mary is the Queen of Heaven and Earth! The Queen is always below the King. The King is Christ. Why do you think the Book of Revelation mentions the following: **
God’s temple in heaven was opened,
and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple.
A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun,
with the moon under her feet,
and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth.
Then another sign appeared in the sky;
it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns,
and on its heads were seven diadems.
Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky
and hurled them down to the earth.
Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth,
to devour her child when she gave birth.
She gave birth to a son, a male child,
destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod.
Her child was caught up to God and his throne.
The woman herself fled into the desert
where she had a place prepared by God.

**Remember that Heaven is not the same as a worldly monarchy. In Heaven, Christ is King and God. Mary is Queen and mother of Christ and the wife of the Holy Spirit. **
It’s much different and hard to understand to some people.
